I'm a DVC owner and usually travel either with DH and DD or my friend and our DDs, or a group of families all traveling together.
I'm always the planner and the one who gets everyone to the park on time...

For my birthday, my husband gave me a solo trip so that I can do things my way and not have to worry about or plan for anyone else! I'll be at POFQ from Nov 2 to 7!
So, what might I not have considered with people in tow that I'll have this one opportunity to experience?
What do you do differently alone than when you travel with a group?

On my solo trip I chose to do things that my family didn't usually want to do. Things like watch the movies around WS, or browse through the stores (not very easy to do when I've got my two little ones withe me on every other trip).

We also go during Jan/Feb so water parks aren't normally part of the plan, so I made a day to go to TL. I also ate at restaurants that I've wanted to try.

I had such a great time, and needed rest, that I'm already planning my next solo trip for Sept or Oct 2015 for F&W. Something else I've never experienced. I'm also thinking of making some time for the spa.

What a great husband. So do what he wants you to do. Treat yourself! Think about other times you've gone and thought, "If I was by myself I would ________" and do that. I love Animation Academy, so I go there. I spend time in the theaters. I wander through shops to see the details (like the giant from Mickey and the Beanstalk at MK). But maybe you are a thrill seeker and just want to ride all the thrill rides in a day. Go for it. Or maybe you've always dreamed about a "rope drop to kiss goodnight" day at Magic Kingdom. Going solo means you get to treat yourself like royalty. Do whatever you want. Don't want to go to the parks? Luxuriate at your hotel. Want to have dinner and drinks with Disboard soloists? Go for it.

how does one arrange dinner and drinks with disboard soloists? I might like to do that one evening...
DH and I did the illuminations cruise with a group of disers once - we had a great time!

What an awesome birthday present! :thumbsup2

The beauty of a solo trip is being able to do whatever you want when you want to at your own pace.

If you want to arrange a meet up, you can check this thread out http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=463292
or just create one of your own.

On my solo trip, I found myself really doing the things I never had time to do when my family is with me. For example, I took my time at all of the countries in EP, went in almost every store, and just chose things that they don't enjoy, such as wandering around One Man's Dream for a lengthy amount of time.

Also, I also hit 4 parks in one day, which was a goal of mine. I also relaxed and ate lunch at my pace, and didn't worry so much about hitting all of the rides. I rode the ones that were meaningful to me, and hit 7D for the first time.

One thing I recommend is to have a small game plan, but keep an open mind. I always figure if I didn't get to it this trip, well then I will have to plan another!

Solo was definitely a new experience, and I will do it again some day.
