Hi everyone, my dh and I went down 28 Aug and stayed until 1 Sept. We had an absolute blast and ate tons of food. We were also on the free dining plan. I'll go day by day below and list where we ate and what we ate and if we like it.
Day 1: We landed at MCO around 11:30 a.m. but didn't get to the hotel until around 2:00 p.m. because of ME. After checking in, we headed straight to the MK for late lunch/snack. We paid out of pocket at Casey's hot dogs. We had two dogs, two fries, and two drink and the total was a bit over $18. We thought it was good but it could have been because we hadn't eaten all day either. the fixins bar was a hit with my dh.
For dinner that night we had O'hana's. We had a 7:40 p.m. PS and were seated around 7:20 with a gorgeous window view of the castle though we didn't ask for it. We had never been there before so really didn't know what to expect except from what I read here. The waitress told us to order milkshakes or smoothies since we could in addition to the alcohlic drinks that we had taken with us from the bar. I had the mailbu mawpaw and it was sooo good. I could use another now. Anyways, the appetizers were good. The shrimp wontons and the wings were our fav but the potatoes were good as well. We didn't care for the veggie stiry fry and we both love stiry fry but this was just to wilted for our taste. The peanut dipping sauce and the ginger cilantro sauce were wonderful but the fruit sauce tasted like mushed fruit. My dh could not believe all the food coming to our table and he loves to eat. I loved the shrimp skewers the best with the turkey a close second. They didn't cook the steak enough for my liking and the pork loin I think it was wasn't the great on our list. The pineapple was to die for, soo good with that carmel sauce. At the end of the night I thought my dh was going to have to be rolled out of there. He was litereally holding his stomach from eating so much. Overall we had a great dinner and I think we will be going back.
Day 2:
We didn't eat much early in the day after such a big dinner at O'hana's the night before. This was Epcot day and aroun 10:15 my dh went to ride Mission Space and I went to find something to snack/breakfast on because I don't ride MS. I think that this meal from the Electric Umbrella might have been the best out of pocket value. I didn't use a CS meal because I knew I wouldn't be getting anything huge. For $4.57 I got a good size bowl of cut up fruit, a to go box of rice crispy cereal and a carton of milk. I ate my cereal and half the fruit and used half the milk. By the time I was almost down, my dh was back and he finished the fruit and rest of the milk. We thought that this was a great cheap meal.
Lunch was at Le Celier, where we shared 1 TS meal. I had read all the reviews about the cheese soup so of course I tried that. I told our wonderful waitress up front that we would be sharing the meal and she said no problem. We ended up with the cheese variety appetizer, the 10 oz New York strip, the dessert platter, a cup of cheese soup and 1 milkshake and 1 smoothie. She put all this on one TS meal. I was all prepared to pay out of pocket for something but she said not to worry about it. When the bill came out, it totaled something like $100. I could not believe it. My dh just about died and went to heaven with this meal. We will absoutely be going back here. Everything we had was wonderful, especially the soup!
Late dinner in the Pop food court of chicken bacon wraps from the frig section because most everything was closed at 11:30 p.m.
Day 3
The night before my dh asked if we could have a big breakfast so I said sure but did he want a charcter breakfast, which he did. I called right at 8 a.m. on this morning and asked for any openings at the 1900 Park Fare and managed a 10:30 a.m. The food was great and by this time it was not really crowded and we could eat in relative peace. The cheese blinis were melt in your mouth good. If you ever see my dh in person, remember to ask him about Alice standing on a chair in the middle of the big dining room yelling his name and telling him to get back to his table immediately because she was waiting on him. I thought I would choke laughing.
We grabbed lunch at the ABC Commissary in MGM where I continue not to be impressed. I had a burger there and I just did not like it. Something about these burgers are tough and gristly. I don't think we will be going back there unless we just have to.
Late dinner at Earl of Sandwhich where we shared a CS meal. The full montague, a cherry coke from the fountain, and a big cookie. I did find it out that chips weren't included but honestly didn't care enough to ask. We will be going back there for a cheap lunch or dinner if we have to pay out of pocket.
Day 4
We grabbed a quick breakfast snack in the food court because we were running late for our meeting with the DVC. After finishing up finally with the DVC, we went to the MK where we had burgers at Cosmic Rays. We love the toppings bar there. Usually we eat here at least once. Best burgers there I think.
Dinner was at Liberty Tree Tavern. This is my dh's fav place to eat. I love everything but the bbq meat whatever it is. That's just not my thing but the rest was great even the cherry cobbler and I don't like cherry anything. The waiter wasn't all that helpful or excited as some other people we saw but he was for the most part efficient.
Now I know at some point in here we also had burger at the Pop food court but I couldn't honestly tell you when. We used 2 snack on mickey bars and the night before we left I used the rest on three mickey rice krispy treats, two bananas, and an orange juice so we would have some kind of breakfast for our early morning before our flight. We did not use 1 TS meal or 1 CS meal. Some people are right about it being alot of food but I don't think you should eat all that if you don't want to. Just tell them you don't want the dessert at a CS or whatever. When we go back, whenever that is and if the dining plan is offered, I know we will be using it. Our thing was to share a TS meal mid day and then share another TS meal later in the day at somewhere different so you could try different places.
I hope that this sounds okay and sorry that it is so long but like I said I"m new at this. If you have questions, I'll try my best to answer them. Have a good evening.
