First RV trip to the Fort

Hello everyone. I have had a blast reading through all the threads; while looking for tips/tricks and recommendations for camping at the Fort. We are experienced campers, but have never actually camped at the Fort ( stayed in a Cabin 5 years ago.) We have rented a golf cart, have all of our park tickets purchased and we are more than ready to go. We will be heading down from VA, stopping at St Marys KOA on the way down. Does anyone who is experienced at "camping at the fort," have any DFW specific recommendations that I have missed? All advice appreciated.

Get some cheap battery powered lights and zip ties for the gold cart. This way you can find it among the others. Plus its cool. i found it good to have some home cooked microwave meals, just in case your beat feom the parks and dont feel like cooking when you get back to the camper. This does not apply if you are planning to eat out most meals. Look for the green disboards signs of other fellow disboard people, then say hi!
Most of all have fun. Its a blast.

I ordered the ears as a sticker and just put it on a plastic sign. Whatever works.

If you want easy but surprisingly good meal suggestions try the frozen family size Birds Eye dinners. I just decided to try them after all these years and really love the quality and price and convenience.
I have tried the chicken fried rice and the chicken fettuccini ( only used small portion of sauce flavor to avoid salt) and next in my freezer is the chicken stir fry! Sold at Publix and WalMart

Hey I have seen spare tires covered with an official Fort Wilderness design on back of autos recently. Do they sell these at the Fort?

Yes they do! Usually find them for sale at Meadows. Typically to the left as you come in front entrance.

You might want to hit Dollar General for some Sidewalk Chalk so fellow campers can leave you messages. Tiggerdad's furry little minions have not been reported to returned in strength from Covid Quarantine Quarters but you might want to have some tribute on hand for them or be prepared for them to rob you blind.
Plan on some extra time to explore the fort and maybe hit an evening movie and Electric Water Pageant.

Just wanted to say this forum is great. I left social media a long time ago; I was on a few Camping pages and I miss the conversation. This has filled that void. Seems like a good bunch in here.

Bruh, I've seen sites very well decorated by some very artistic kids with chalk!

I can't stand Facebook drama thus I avoid it like the plague. This camping forum and official Jayco forum are only places I venture.

I notice you're from VA. Stayed in Shenandoah NP before. Pretty place for sure.
