"First rule of leadership, Princess...." ~Overdosing on Ice Cream

Michelle,

Glad the miscommunication was cleared up and you were able to make plans for the rest of the evening.

Thanks for your DH's take on the RPDE. I was looking into it for DH as a birthday gift, and from your DH's experience it doesn't sound like it is something that my DH will enjoy either, so I am going to think of something else for his birthday. Tell your DH thanks for his honest opinion:thumbsup2

I'll tell him. I really wish he would have been a little more appreciative of it though!

Glad to hear the bad mood disappeared! I look forward to hearing about the rest of the night, I would love to try Beaches & Cream, but it doesn't fit in this trip. Good excuse to go back again! :)

It's a good reason to go back.:thumbsup2

Sorry your dh didn't enjoy the RP Driving Experience. I got the ride-along (at WDW) for dh for his birthday and he loved it! My friend did the actual driving experience here in Bristol a couple of weeks ago, and this is a short track, too. Haven't talked to her to see how it went yet.

Glad you guys got a new plan going for the evening.

David is a world champion ISDE motorcycle rider, and therefore not only use to going fast, but use to racing. I say that so you understand more where he is coming from. The two things he didn't like about the Richard Petty Driving Experience were that one the track was short, the Disney track is the shortest of all of the Richard Petty tracks, and two that while driving the car you had to follow and stay with a pace car. He said he has gone faster in his rental cars in Europe.

Now for those that are not use to racing or going the speeds that David has I'm sure the experience would be more enjoyable. I do think that if it is someone who is really interested in driving race cars they would be better off doing it at one of the Richard Petty tracks besides Disney, since it's the same amount of money and laps regardless of the track length.

My mom was going to do this for DH birthday when we went to WDW in Sept...and he pretty much had the same conclusion as your DH. Especially for the amount of $ and how little laps it is...he decided it was not worth it on that track. He said he would like to go to some kind of camp of sorts that they have I think in NC but I am not positive on that.

We got him the peg's he wanted for his bike, David put them on and then hid the bike in the new garage. Which by the way is very full right now!

Why do you want me to go in the garage?

It was a great day!

Michelle It looked like a very nice party. If I had been there I would have read your Disney journal. I just love family parties. I wish MY family lived closer, all I have here is my mom and a few cousins but they are a lot older than I am. We are all scattered dad's in Maine and Step-mother and brothers and nephew are in Mass.

I love that my family is all so close. I was disappointed that no one wanted to read about our trip, but what can you do? :confused3

Looks like your DS enjoyed his b-day. One question? What are pegs?:confused3

Yay! I'm all caught up finally! Funny how I had to get back to work to catch up... :rolleyes1

I have only been to Park Faire for dinner, so it was great to see the differences. We loved our meal there, and it looks like we would like breakfast too. Great character interaction! Those were great pics of your DS' bday party too!

As always, looking forward to more!! :thumbsup2

Happy birthday, Adam! I love the gummy worms on the cake, lol.

Sorry to hear the RPE wasn't so great, esp. since that was his present. :(

Looks like Park Fare was a good breakfast - too bad dh couldn't meet up with you. I guess the formality seemed more appropriate when we did dinner there, since dd was all dressed up, lol. (I forget what the rest of us were wearing!)

The things to stand on, on the back wheels. They are for doing tricks on his bike.

:goodvibes I think I'm going to have to go back to work to get the next chapter written.

The gummy worms were my fix for a to "girlie" cake. ;) The thing about being dressed up, was that we weren't. That's why I found the Mad Hatter's comment so funny. I mean Daisy had on a skirt, but it was a jeans skirt, the rest of us were in the same thing we wore to the parks.

Great party pics! That cake is cool!

:lmao: That's because I'm a "cool" mom. :rotfl: That cake is like that because the only vanilla cakes in the store had flowers on them. The chocolate cakes had more boy birthday friendly decorations, but Adam doesn't like chocolate cake. SO I bought the vanilla one with flowers, some candy letters, and a bag of gummy worms. It turned out pretty good I think. He was happy so that's all that matters. ;)

"Boy, have you got your lions crossed."- Lion King

When we came out of the Grand Floridian David was on the platform for the monorail and he was annoyed with me for not understanding that he was trying to meet up with us. Our communication was just off that day because if I had known he wanted to meet us we certainly could have waited for him and he could have eaten with us. However I didn't know and it didn't work out that way, and it made fora very tense ride back to CSR. The monorail was crowded and we had to stand and that didn't help matters at all.

Once we were back at CSR I took the kids to the pool and left David to work himself out of his bad mood. I think part of the problem was that the Richard Petty Driving Experience had been disappointing for him and he had not enjoyed it very much. Since it was his birthday present I was hurt that he was being so crabby about it. So while the kids swam I relaxed with an adult beverage, this time it was an Electric Ice Tea, which is bright blue and very yummy.

While I was sipping my drink I pulled out the certificate for a free 5x7 print the Photopass CM had given me after opening the Magic Kingdom the day before. I realized that it said we had to pick it up within 48 hours so I started formulating a plan for the evening that would including going to the Magic Kingdom. Since Daisy's request for the day was to go to a park and ride rides and evening at MK would work perfectly. I decided I'd try to get dinner reservations and we could eat dinner, go on rides, and pick up our free 5x7 picture.

Of course having plotted all this in my head I knew I needed to walk over to the concierge desk to try to get a dinner ADR and the sooner the better. I tried calling both Aunt Pat's and David's cell phones to get them to come to the pool to watch the kids, but neither of them were answering. So I sat and stressed about it for a little bit , and kept trying to call. Finally Aunt Pat showed up at the pool, so I left her to watch the kids swim and I walked to the lobby to make dinner plans.

I had my choice of a late dinner at either Tony's Town Square or Crystal Palace and since Joey had loved Tony's so much that is where I chose. I walked back to the room and discovered David was in a better mood and he had a plan for the afternoon. One of the other things the kids wanted to do was to go to the arcade and play video games. David suggested that we go to the Boardwalk area to ESPNzone since he had game cards from his last trip to DTD in Anaheim in January. I added in the idea of Beaches and Cream for ice cream and our afternoon/evening plans were set.

Glad you both at least met up on the monorail platform....and eventually everything worked out! I am impressed that you can make plans while at Disney. I am afraid I am too commando to do that :( Looking forward to hearing more!

Happy Birthday Adam! :bday: party: :rockband: :rainbow:

Adam's party looked really fun! Yummy food, cake and family! :thumbsup2 Sorry there were do Disers there to read your trip report. I scrap booked our last two trips and no one but me and the girls actually look thru the albums..oh well. By the way, the beautiful fields behind the house look perfect for horses. Do you have any???

Adam's party looked like a lot of fun. You were very creative with the cake. I find you pretty much have to special order cakes for boys party as all the cakes that are pre-made tend to be very girlie.

Very cool cake! It looks like you guys had a lot of fun!

So, who won the boys against boys football game?

The big boys won or so they claim.

Happy Birthday Adam! :bday: party: :rockband: :rainbow:

It was my parents house and they just got rid of their horse since the house is on the market to sell.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Adam, today is his last day as a 9 year old, he turns 10 tomorrow.

Oh, ok....I was clueless. Guess with a DS I better read up on these types of things;)

He will educate you I'm sure! :lmao:

Here is yet more to the story of the cake and why I'm glad I didn't pre-order it. A week ago Adam told me he wanted a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Now remember he doesn't like chocolate cake. I was like whatever maybe he changed his mind about chocolate cake? :confused3 Then on Sunday he didn't want a cupcake at my nieces party because they were chocolate. So again I'm like what is up with that you told me you wanted chocolate cake. That's when my clueless wonder looks at me and says "I did?" I swear that kid! Anyway I was glad I hadn't pre-ordered a chocolate cake.

We just got a letter today stating that "I am thrilled to inform you that, based on her academic achievement and leadership potential, your daughter, Daisy, has been nominated to attend the National Young Leaders State Conference in the Pacific Northwest Region."

This from the Congressional Youth Leadership Council and is associated with the United States Congress, it's pretty big deal. I'm very impressed with and proud of my daughter!
