First Post--Weekends vs. Weekdays in December?

Hi Gang,

DW and I are planning way ahead for an early-to-mid Dec '07 trip to WDW with DD-7 and DS-5. This will be our first trip and we're overwhelmed by the amount of information to absorb! We're planning to take the little ones out of school and would prefer to miss as few days as possible. Am leaning toward 5 days on the ground but really would prefer to do everything possible to minimize waits/crowds.

So, the question is this--for this time of year, is there a big difference in crowds for a weekday vs. a weekend day? We could do Wed-Sun and only miss 3 days of work but would Sat and Sun be too crowded? Greatly appreciate any thoughts!!!

You'll get all the information you need here. Okay, as for December, here's
what I've experienced. My family has been going in December since 1993.
At first it was very empty and as the years have gone by, I think the masses
have discovered that it's a wonderful time to go. Great decorations, great
weather, low crowds, etc. The weekends have always been more crowded.
That's usually when folks first arrive and they want to hit the parks right away.
Especially the Magic Kingdom. The week days are less crowded. This year,
we're going Mon-Fri to avoid the weekends all together. It's never going to be
as crowded as when schools are out. We always took our kids out of school
too. The weekends are manageable, the crowds are manageable. You'll LOVE
it. I say go for whatever works best for your schedule and enjoy it no matter
what. You're at DISNEY WORLD! It's AWESOME! :thumbsup2

You'll have a BLAST!! We choose to go on weekdays whenever possible, no matter what time of year. If you do go on the weekend, avoid MK as it is usually the most crowded. But that's just my opinion.

Have fun :wizard:

A big :welcome: to you.

Weekends also attract the locals. If you go in December you might want to think about doing MVMCP. That will give you an evening in MK with less crowds. Also, earlier December is better than getting too close to Christmas. The taping of the Christmas parade with Regis and Kelly is usually the first weekend in December, so keep that in mind.

Will you be going soon? Were you thinking of this December?

I just returned from a Fri/Sat/Sun visit. The Friday park attendence was VERY minimal. We did two parks (AK and EPCOT ) that day and rode all the major rides multiple times.

Go during a weekday is the best advice. It sounds like your kids will be in 2nd and 1st grade then? I don't think they will miss much that they can't make up if you take them out of school.
