I too try to avoid these types of threads but can't not say anything.

If you don't like what you hear, turn it off.

Starting or reponding to a thread about how upset you are over the content of the Podcast is asking for flames. You could have personally e-mailed the Podcast team and explained your feelings, thus venting your concerns and not offending anyone. Instead you opted to post your feelings inviting responses, and that's exactly what you got.

Totally agree... anyways let's keep a good vibe on the Board I mean we are here to celebrate something that we ALL like (Disney), If you have any complain send an email to the cast. Is not like we can do nothing if you felt offended, I just tell you give another change to the podcast and not give a first impression judgement.

Emails are not being answered and any attempt to start threads about this has resulted in bannings and thread deletions. This is the first thread to last more than a few hours. The comments made in the podcast were very offensive. And I doubt the powers-that-be would be going to so much trouble now to erase any mention of that podcast if they didn't think that what they did was wrong.

If that is an indication that they might have second thoughts about the content...why keep bringing attention to it? Sometimes well-meaning people just come off as troublemakers when they don't let a sleeping dog lie. (JMHO)

Wishspirit, you hear the word "retarded" in your line of work? That's surprising and certainly wouldn't be tolerated by our teachers or administration. And I can't imagine letting slide the use of that word in social situations. It's something about which advocates for people with disabilities have been trying to educate others for a very long time

I am a mother with two special needs boys. They are both labeled "mentally retarded" in school. Yep I have the ARD paperwork to prove it. I was not offended at all and I do not believe anyone on the Podcast team has a mean spirit and meant no offense at all. To me there is a difference between saying something like "that's so retarded" and calling my son a "retard".

On another board I'm a regular on someone started a thread about Bob's memorial show and that certain segment. People who never listen to the podcast got all upset and was sure Bob was offended when things were said. They have not a clue and it makes me mad. I'm officially done with the other boards. It seems to be in fashion to bash the Dis lately and I'm tired of it.

So there guys you are stuck with me, get ready for me to start posting more.

part of the reason I love this show is the teams sense of humor. Usually they are the first people to poke fun at themselves. before this, i thought all disney fans were fuddy-duddies (no offense!)

Speaking for myself, I am quite content to be referred to as one of the "fuddy-duddies" who likes Disney.

Still, the whole discussion saddens me. It is a return to the "normal" that I deal with all day long.

From the way he was always described, it seems Bob wouldn't have wanted the podcast or his friends to be misunderstood in this way. Those who have listened to more than one podcast understand the perspective and context in which the statements now being discussed were made. We got a rare glimpse of good friends joking around with each other. I treasured that glimpse.

I think you're too easily offended. The jokes were based on the comedy "Will & Grace", and were meant as jokes. If that sort of joke is not your cup of tea, TURN IT OFF...you have that right.

I suppose there are many who are offended by blonde jokes, redneck jokes, women/men jokes, old people jokes, too. I do wonder how they get through their day.

I was so offended when I first heard the "you might be a redneck" jokes until I realized they were true and fit my family well.

I don't need to chime in on the debate because everyone has the right to their opinion. I wasn't offended, but if you were, you have the right to your feelings.

But I think we can all agree that the funniest part was that Bob was very seriously trying to keep the segment going even though it had gone off on a completely different tangent. And I kept laughing as he tried so hard to start over and save the segment- Oh good hearted Bob I think that is why Pete wanted to try and have it in there, it showed Bob's personality.

I really dont understand all the "hurt" either. My family are direct immagrants from Greece and if we didnt let things roll off our back than we would not be strong people. I have the freedom here to say whatever I want and that is an awesome freedom. Heck they made a whole movie mocking my heritage and I love it!!! "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was hilarious, so my family, and could have been taken as an insult if I was putting it into that context. Lighten up this is part of life. I love that movie because I love my family I dont take it as shameful or hurtful just funny quirks that are so true of my heritage. Givve the podcast another try. They are funny and informative. I really think things are being taken way out of context. That podcast was up for a whole year before all the nonsense and name calling started. Try a typical podcast not one that is a memeorial tribute to Bob.

I'm lost as well... can anyone tell me what Francine would be referring to? I've been listening for about 2½ months, and I don't recall hearing anything bigoted or demeaning towards minorities. I can understand why someone would be a bit confused if they listened to the Bawb memorial show, and there are some "in" jokes/references in most shows that will take a few podcasts to understand, but they don't overrun the podcast by any means.

Perhaps we're just dealing with hyper-sensitive, politically correct snob, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt until I understand what she's referring to.

If one's time is so precious, I wouldn't spend it listening to the podcast. It's a casual, friendly podcast, not a rapid-fire (ha!) bullet-point news brief.

I agree and I think that is sort of what I would call Insulting to us having just lost a very special person. You make me cry even though I do not know what you are refrencing to.

If you are offended by a Disney pod cast you have sensitivity issues. Toughen up a bit and take it for what it is. Just relax and listen, if you don't like what you hear, turn it off. Simple.

Now see...here's the difference, when I heard that part I didn't think of it as a racial slur, to me if was poking a little fun at Disney and what could be their self-serving reason for having the naturalization ceremony onsite -- like they would have first crack at these people. Oh well, I guess it's all in the interpretation. Sorry if you were so offended by it.
