The new Princess Tiana meet and greet character was unveiled at the 2009 National Association of Black Journalists Convention in Tampa this week, and Orlando Attractions Magazine has posted the first picture:

According to the magazine, she will debut at the Magic Kingdom on Oct. 26. :)

Thanks for posting this.
I can't wait to see her when we are there in December!

Thanks for the pic!

Sadly we will not get to see her!

I think the character is AWESOME! Hopefully she will become a princess regular in the future. Too bad WDW does not have a New Orleans square.

One more picture of Princess Tiana posing with Anika Noni Rose, who voices the character in The Princess and the Frog:

Yay! I can't wait to see her - I hope she is out for a long time (we'll be missing her on our trip in Sept). :)

Thanks for posting this!!!! I will miss her too!:headache: Oh well that means I have to plan another trip!!!

She is beautiful! Too bad we'll miss her by a month. Oh well. I saw they had the doll in Target the other day and it was really nice.

She is so pretty, I love the dress. Is it me or is the skirt really poofed out, I would hate trying to walk around in that one all day.

I am thrilled that she will be there when we are there!!!! My daughter will be so excited!! :thumbsup2:cool1:
Does anyone know where in the MK she will be??

So bummed we'll miss her by a few weeks. My older daughter was so excited to see a princess with brown skin and black hair like her. I was hoping to get a pic while in the parks this trip.

I'm not sure exactly where the meet and greet will be, but she'll also be part of a new show called Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee that will run Oct. 26 - Jan. 3. Here's how the Los Angeles Times describes it:

Tied to the upcoming “The Princess and the Frog” hand-drawn animated movie, Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee will feature a procession of jazzy musicians and performers parading through New Orleans Square at Disneyland and Frontierland at Disney World.

As the “second-line” procession reaches the Rivers of America dock, a group of pre-selected theme park visitors will board the waiting riverboat (the Mark Twain at Disneyland and the Liberty Belle at Disney World) where Princess Tiana and other “The Princess and the Frog” characters will greet them.

After departing, the riverboat will stop along the riverfront for a performance including songs from the film. The show will be repeated several times a day, with viewing areas along the waterfront.

The article also has a very nice close up shot of Tiana. You can see it here:
