I haven't been to WDW before and I was just wondering what would be a good thing to do on the night we arrive. We are staying at the WL but we haven't got a car. What do other people do on their first night?

Thanks :)

You will be tired so you may just want to eat, wander round the hotel and check out the facilities but don't forget you can get the very first taste of Disney magic on your doorstep! take a bus down to the campfire grounds and join Chip'n'Dale for a sing song round the campfire with toasted marshmallows and followed by a disney movie on the big screen. wrap up warm tho' 'cos it'll be nippy.
Have a great time and congrats for staying at a GREAT hotel

We normally just unpack, have a meal at the hotel and go for a nice relaxing swim, and then get lots of sleep so we can start our holiday feeling fresh and ready to go the next day.

Staying at the WL, its got to be over to the MK and Wishes. Gets you into the mood as soon as you get there and we find it helps with the time difference going to bed that bit later.

I think after a long day and flight you will just want to unpack and get something to eat...I also manage to get to the supermarket as we stay in a villa.
To be honest we just haven't got the energy for anything more.

depending on when we arrive, we check in, get a bite to eat, go to the supermarket, then go to the MK to renew our APs an then go in to walk around a bit....
we always arrive on a sunday...

Depending on what time you arrive....and whether there are little ones in your party...

If it's after say 6 or 7 I would explore the hotel, the shop, have a meal and a swim.

If it's a lot earlier than that I would think about popping over to MK :)

If it is early I would suggest taking the boat over to the MK. If it is after 5 or so and you don't have any day s to waste on your tickets then save that day for later and visit some of the resorts. Especially the monorail resorts. They will all be decorated for the holidays and they will be easy to get to. Just take the boat over to the MK then hop on the monorail and go to the resorts. GF has a 16ft gingerbread house on display. It is a must see this time of year. Have a great time.

I must be getting old, MK on the first night is unthinkable for us - Joshua will be ready for bed by 7.

Best thing is to have a wander round and see what is where and grab a bite to eat, usually after such a long day that is all we manage :teeth:
Claire ;)

Thanks for all your replies, I think we will see how tired we are! :)

Not just you! We didn't even manage to look round our resort on the first night last time!

I can imagine, I just about make it to Publix and back following our unpacking, if people can get to MK then good for them...but don't know how they do it!

Maybe they are people that actually get some sleep on the flight!

DD slept 20 minutes in total on the way out! :rotfl: (I can laugh now but at the time....!)

yes, we are the same - Joshua doesn't really sleep much on the flight there and is very restless and tired by the time we arrive.
It's a long day, we are actually changing things next year, going for 3 weeks and staying the first night at the Hyatt airport hotel before driving to Fort Lauderdale for 4 nights (then we return to a villa in Kissimmee)...so hopefully our first night will be more relaxing...my wife is concerned that I am looking forward to staying at the airport more than any other part of the holiday....it will be great, popping downstairs for something to eat and a drink at the bar.

sounds great! I like the idea of a relaxing start. Before we had DD we'd have come back needing a holiday but we had to learn as we went along last time!
