On our first night at Disney we are going to go to Chef Mickey's.( we won't be going into the parks)
Now.. after dinner we thought we would take the loop on the monorail and stop at one of the resorts to watch the water parade. What time would you go to dinner and where would you go to see the parade? Did I hear from someone that the Poly was the best place to see the parade?

I don't know what time the EWP starts for the time of year you'll be there but it comes around at different times to each resort (usually sometime after 9pm). It starts at one of the resorts (Maybe GF - not sure) and than goes from resort to resort. I would find out what time it starts for which resort you would like to watch it from and just make sure you leave yourself a good half hour to 45 mins to be able to leave from dinner and get to that resort. i.e. if it will take you say an hour and a half to eat - and the EWP starts at the Poly at 9:15pm and that's where you'd like to watch it from, I'd make a ressie for Chef Mickey's for around 7pm to give you enough time to eat and travel over there. You can see the EWP from the CR btw - not sure how nice it is to watch from there but it can be seen from the GF,Poly,CR and then it goes from the Seven Seas Lagoon over to the Bay lake side and goes by the other side of the CR I believe and then over to WL and FW (not sure which order as far as to WL first or FW). I can say though that I've watched from GF, the Poly and WL and all 3 were nice to watch from but the Poly was one of the nicest.

Sounds like a wonderful plan for your first night.

We have watched the EWP from the Poly twice, and If my memory is not failing which it shouldn't because I am only 32, we saw the fireworks at the MK too so we got two wonderful shows for no admission price, well you know what I mean.

As far as the memory goes, my husband says it starts earlier every generation.

Have a good time.

Diane

That is a great idea. I'm hoping the times work out well since we are going in November. I'll have to check and see if wishes will be that night.
Poly sounds like the best place to see the parade. We are also going to use some time in between to look around some of the monorail resorts.

Ate dinner at Chef Mickey's around 6:45. Then rode the monorail to Poly, where we had some time to browse the gift shops and the grounds before finding some bench space out on the dock. EWP began at 9PM sharp and I think it's still the same time today (check wdwig to be sure), except when Wishes is at 9, then EWP starts when Wishes ends. There's something about being out on that dock that brings you CLOSER to the parade; maybe that's why some think it's the best view. This parade is designed specially for the Seven Seas Lagoon resorts, so they all have excellent vantage points. Poly is the earliest time for EWP, so it's the best place from which to watch so you can call it an early night, especially if you have to commute back to a different resort.

What a FABULOUS first night that was, a fantastic way to begin the vacation! Hope it's as magical for your family as it was for mine!:sunny:

That is a great idea. We have a ps for chef mickey's at 7:00 August 8. My parents and sister and her husband never seen teh EWP, maybe we will do the same. Now where should i watch it from CR or Poly. What is also the best resort to see the MK fireworks that night. WOuld that be CR and if so where do we watchit from the beach or is there an observation deck? TYIA
