I'm trying to decide which to do the first night Ohana's or Chef Mickey's. We have not been to either. It will be me, DH, DS12, DD9, and DD7. It's getting close to PS time for me, and I can't decide.

Foodwise - 'Ohana wins big time! But the food at CM's is decent, so if the kids want the characters, go there.

I'd rather see the big Hawaiin guy at 'Ohana, myself!

Definately Chef Mickey's!! The food was great when we were there in Nov. It is really a fun place and great way to start a vacation. The character interaction is so awesome. But, don't cross Ohana's off your list! I would still go there. We also went here in Nov. and it was great! The food was great too. I would think your family would like both, but the kids would love Chef Mickey's!

We've done both and had a great time it each one, so it's a tough call. As a buffet, Chef Mickey's has more variety in the food for picky eaters. Chef Mickey's also has characters, while O'Hana does not. However, O'Hana has the hula hoop contest and coconut race.

One thing to consider with O'Hana is that you can view Wishes from the dining room, complete with the soundtrack piped in. They even stop serving food during the show. You'll need to get a table up close to the front window for the best view, but get there in plenty of time and make a request. If Wishes is running that night and the timing works for you, it's something to consider. We really enjoyed it.

If you have kids....the children would LOVE Chef Mickeys! It was just DH & myself, and we had dinner at Chef Mickeys the 1st night. As I've gone to many character breakfasts, this just wasn't our thing. I pick Ohana's if it's just you and another adult. Just my opinion :earseek:

Hmmm. I would think it depends on your kids. Are they excited about meeting Mickey/Donald/Goofy/Minnie or Chip & Dale? If they're not really interested in the characters then CM might not be tons of fun for them.

definately Ohana!! Great food and fun atmosphere for everyone.

Thanks so much for all of your replys!! We arrive on a Sunday about 3:00 p.m. and we are staying at POR! :cool1:

I can make PS tomarrow for the day we arrive!! (yeah, we're getting closer)

I ate at O'Hanna last Tuesday for the first time and the food was awesome. It was one of the best restaurant meals I've had anywhere. The food at Chef Mickey's was OK when I was there two years ago, but nothing spectacular.

'Ohana! The food is great, plentiful, and the atmosphere is pure Disney. Chef Mickey's is like a factory - get in line for food, sit down, wait for character X, get food, wait for character X...Who needs that on vacation?!
