okay I have 7pm ressies at Ohana's for our first night there. We arrive at 3pm and are staying at the Contemporary first night only - then off to OKW for a week.

Now I am starting to think I should have done Chef Mickey's instead. The main reason I didn't is that we are doing our good bye breakfast at Chef Mickey's and also CRT and LTT throughout our 9 days there and thought I would put almost 3 yr old dd in character overkill!!!!

Now I am thinking, she is all siked up for disney and then I take here to Ohana's once we arrive when Mickey is right downstairs in our very hotel - ugh!!

I am thinking maybe I will do Ohana's later in the week.

Opinions while both are still open for ressies....

We're doing 'Ohans's our first night. We've always wanted to see the Poly, and have heard many good things about 'Ohana's.

We had breakfast at Chef Mickey's in 1999. We liked it well enough, but thought it was crowded and noisy. It was a fairly large dining room, and we found it hard to enjoy our meal because we, as everyone else in the place, were more concerned about where Mickey was than the food in front of us. This wasn't the restaurant’s fault, it's just hard to keep your eyes off of Mickey Mouse when he's in the room.

Our favorite place to see Mickey is near his "house" at Toon Town in MK. After waiting in line, you and a few others are taken in to see him. With just a few other people, it's much more personal and enjoyable than a few moments during your meal.

That's a tough one.

The food at Ohana's is awesome!! But starting a vacation at Chef Mickey's is fun too. Chef Mickey's is more of the "get into the mood kind of place" . The food is good there too! If you can still do Ohana's later in the week, then I might say that Chef Mickey's might be a fun vacation starter.

I vote for Chef Mickey's. It would be torture for your child to be right there in the hotel with him and hearing the Celebrate song and not getting to go. I don't think there is such a thing as character overkill for a 3 yr old.

Our very first trip to WDW::MickeyMo We had dinner on our first night at Ohana and I timed it so we could see the fireworks from MK after dinner. They turn the lights down and pipe the music in. Great way to start our trip. The castle looks so pretty all lite up.

We also love the food so much!! Yum!::yes::

We are headed to Orlando for one night in October and then too the beach. We are not doing WDW,but I still have to get my fix and so I got a PS for Ohana and timed it again with WISHES! I can't wait!:hyper: We told DD we would take her to Sea World and so that is the only theme park we will hit this trip.

I do like Chef Mickey's too,but it is very noisy and hectic at dinner. We did have fun though.

Ohana also has a coconut rolling contest for the little ones and a hula hoop contest ( I think?) Anyway they gave out gummy worm and my DD (3 1/2 ) at the time just loved it!

I would pick Ohana. The food is great, it's fun for kids, and with your 7:00 PS you have a very good chance of being able to watch Wishes from your table (which starts at 8:30 on the day you should arrive based upon your counter). Also, please don't overlook the joy that a 3 year old gets in riding the monorail, which you would ride if you go from your hotel to Ohana. There is no way that your DD will not see the monorail coming through her hotel when you arrive, and she will almost certainly want to ride it right away. On the other hand, given the layout of the Contemporary your DD is very unlikely to actually see any of the characters in Chef Mickey's unless you make it a point to go to the area of the restaurant. Particularly considering your plan to go to Chef Mickey's later in the week, Ohana is probably the better overall choice. Whatever you pick, they are both great and you will enjoy it. Have a great time!
