We decided to add an extra night on to the beginning of our stay (on 2 more days to go)! Since we will be arriving in Orlando around 7pm I had decided to get a room offsite to save money and then check in the next day (POFQ). I had a room booked at the Fairfield Inn but called yesterday and they have a room at Pop for $2 more a night. What should I do??

I would stay onsite. We're going late Oct. and planning on staying off-site the first night unless a good code comes out then we will stay onsite. For a $2 difference you get the convenience of having them move your luggage, my opionion is it's worth the extra $2 to get a early start into the parks.

I completely agree....go for the Pop

we stayed offsite 2 nights last year before we did our week stay at wilderness lodge, if i had to do it again i would rather spend the extra money and stay at a value.

If at all possible I would try to stay at your originial resort (pofg) so you would wake up in the magic and not have to move, and your trip is totally underway. BUT if that is impossible, than the next best plan is staying onsite for exactly as stated, let disney move you! ;) Worry about it later, show up, check in, and you've had a great day.

Good luck, have a great trip. :D

I agree with mkymouse4ever - I would try to get your ressie all at POR. Why move if you don't have to. For the extra money it would be worth it to me. You can unpack when you get there & explore the resort you are staying at.

Use the few hours you will have that evening to your advantage. For the amount of money spent on a Disney vacation why move around to save a few $'s. JMO!

I hesitated to stay my first night at POFQ since we were getting in a little late. I thought I would have a better chance of getting a good room by checking in in the morning. I also thought it might be a waste of money (also because of late check-in), but the time I will save by staying on-site will probably be worth it. How do you go about having Disney move your luggage? Do they pick it up from your room or do you have to take it to the lobby. I also thought about packing a small bag for the first night but knowing me I'll forget something and have to go fish it out of a bag in the car.

We have checked into Disney resorts as late as 9, 10 & 11 p.m. at times. We have never been disappointed in our rooms. Also, remember that check out time is 11 a.m. and check-in time is 3 p.m. at most resorts, so you will be "homeless" for a while.

Again, JMO, but I would stand in line & check in only once & then get my vacation rolling.

Have a great time, whatever you decide to do. :D

If there is anyway that it will fit your budget, stay at POFQ that first night too. We have gotten in about 7 before and aways been fine with our room. It is so worth it to be setteled in for the stay that first night and be ready to hit the park that first day. It takes time to repack and plan getting your luggage moved. If POFQ is not an option, go with the All Stars.

I know at the moderates and deluxes they come to your room and all you have to do is call down to bell services. I am not positive about the budget hotel policy though.

But you can ask when you get there. If they don't come to your room, all you have to do is leave your luggage at the bell station in the morning.

The employees have done this hundreds and hundreds of times, and it is a very smooth transition. They quickly tag it and give you the receipt and you are off for the day. We did this 4 times on our last trip ( including moving from a disney hotel to the swan and vice versa ) and there was not a single snag.

When you get to your room at POFQ, just call down and they will deliver it to your room.

We are arriving 4/15 @ 6:00pm. We have 6 kids and after traveling for 6 hours we are staying at the Hyatt at the airport that night. I think for us it would just be toooo mush to try to get the rental car, get to WDW, check-in and finally get to our room. I think our kids might not hold up and I am not sure I would either!!!

Do they assign rooms on a first come first serve basis? I was under the impression that they assigned you a room 4-5 days before your arrival and that is what you get. Please advise because we will be arriving late as well and maybe would consider an off-site hotel. Thanks!

If your car rental company is on-site the whole thing from arrival until check-in at a Disney resort shouldn't take longer than 2 hours total.

Funny how everyone does things differently. My DD's are always so excited to get there & get to their Disney hotel that I think they'd shoot me if we didn't check in right when we arrived. :D

Rooms are assigned 3-4 days before arrival. So, a late check in shouldn't affect what type of room you get. Last year we arrived at ASSMo at 10pm, with no ressie and got a great room in a preferred building next to the pool!

If you are trying to save money and there is a significant difference in the price for POR and POP then stay at POP for the first night. It is really no biggie to switch.

we're staying at Pop for the first night. I decided this would not only save me about $30 but give me the opportunity to check it out for a future trip. I was also able to get the FL resident discount when I called today, so I hope this is a sign that it won't be as crowded as I've been reading (I can hope can't I!!).

Again thanks for all your help - I'm so excited we'll be in Disney World tomorrow!!
