My fiancé and I will be on our honeymoon at WDW 6/16-6/25. It’s been my dream to stay at BC since we walked around the resort this past June (my fiancé has stayed there before and it’s his second favorite, behind CR). I was so excited to find a great AP rate at BC that was available 6/17-6/23 (the rate starting the 16th and going past the 23rd was much higher). We went ahead and booked a standard room at CSR for our last two nights, since we both really love CSR and we got a great rate there as well. We still need to book a room for the first night of our honeymoon which is 6/16 (our wedding night is the night before this).

My question is, where should we book? I’d love to stay at a resort that I’ve never stayed at before (fiancé has stayed almost everywhere...aside from SSR and he has no desire to stay there). Here are the resorts I HAVE stayed: POFQ, POR, Poly, AKL, CSR, POP, and All-Star Sports. Also, neither of us has stayed at Riviera. That first day we will likely not be doing a park unless it’s later at night. We are having dinner at Boathouse since we got engaged there and I thought it would be special to have our first honeymoon dinner there.

So here are the options I keep weighing in my mind:

1. Stay cheap with an AP rate of $124 at an All-Star resort and use the extra money as spending money
2. Stay at POFQ or POR since we will probably be spending that evening at Disney Springs. I’m not a big fan of POR, though
3. $308 AP rate to stay at the Riviera, since it’s a brand new resort and we’ve never stayed there. Also, we could do dinner at Boathouse another night and have dinner there or at Epcot
4. Splurge and stay at Poly or CR (each over $500/night) since those are my and my fiancé’s favorite resorts and we’ve never experienced either together...again we could switch our Boathouse dinner
5. Stay at one of the other resorts I’ve never experienced (there’s so many to choose from!)

What would you go with? I’d love to experience something new or stay at one of our favorites, but since the majority of our stay is at BC, I’d be perfectly fine to save money and stay at a value.

I'd do the Riviera. It looks so pretty and you can have a breakfast the next day at Topolinos.

I would do POFQ, Poly or CR. RIV is nice, but not very romantic, IMHO, and I’m assuming that price is for a Tower Studio? They are tiny. I wouldn’t give up the Boathouse for that. Personally, I would pick POFQ and keep your Boathouse reservation. It sounds like a relaxing, romantic way to start your honeymoon.

I vote Poly, but that’s just because I went to Hawaii for my honeymoon! If you don’t have your heart set on any one place, I would also suggest checking out possibilities to save $, like the Priceline express deals (risky but you could save a lot) or seeing if you could rent points. Or maybe think about staying at the Four Seasons since the price is similar to Poly but you would get a lot of luxury to kick off your honeymoon!

We stayed at BC for our honeymoon too!! We got there a day early and stayed at the all stars since we went straight to Disney springs and then got to Animal Kingdom the next day at 8am. It all depends on what you’re gonna do with your time

Awesome! Did you love it? I really can’t wait! Any tips on what to do as honeymooners? We are AP holders so we aren’t planning on doing the parks hardcore. Right now we have reservations for 1 meal per day and we’re going to plan around those.

Thank you for all that have made suggestions! It’s a lot to think about. I’d like to just make a decision and stop waffling! One thing I need to consider is that we will be driving in from our wedding location which is about 5 hours from Disney. So we could be getting there relatively early. If we were going to stay at a value then maybe we will just take our time and stop off somewhere I’d like to check out on the way, like Savannah, GA (we usually fly and if we drive from home it’s straight down I-75 through Atlanta, so this is a rare opportunity to be driving near Savannah)

We really like POFQ and the boat ride down to the Springs is really nice. You didn’t have this in your list, but is there anything at the Yacht Club for that one night. That would make changing your resort the next morning very easy!

Savannah, GA is lovely! That sounds like a great idea!

Oh I LOVED IT!!! It’s my favorite resort! Being able to walk to Epcot is awesome and having Yachtsman Steakhouse next door is perfect! The pool is obviously amazing. We watched Illuminations from the pool. We took is pretty easy because I’m normally in the parks from open to close everyday I’m there. Be sure to get celebration buttons and tell everyone you’re celebrating! Even though it’s your honeymoon don’t forget to have fun and do whatever you want to do. I also highly recommend a monorail food & drink craw!

There is still a lot of availability for DVC studios for that night. going through a broker you could get SSR for as little as $231 oe poly standard for $380 though my recomondation would be copper creek wilderness lodge for $281 though the availability is spotty but if you have not stayed there it is special.

If you are more adventuresome can go over to DVC rental section and can typically save another 15 to 25%. While not something you ask for you might even find some extra nice DVC member that once they know circomstance might just give you a night.

The only bad thing about this is that you might get hooked on DVC and want to buy in

I have rented DVC before and loved it! Both times I went through a private owner. The problem is, my fiancé’s mom is now a Disney Travel agent and makes commission when we book through her. But, given that we have booked the rest of the trip through her, I don’t think it’d be a problem to rent for one nifht

I’d probably stay at All Star Movies just because I love the theming but wouldn’t want to stay at a value for more than a few nights. Plus, I’d save the money and use it toward an experience or another $$$ meal. I like kicking off our vacation in a resort that’s not as fancy as my main one...we’re excited to be at WDW, are even more excited for our next resort, and get to experience a new-to-us resort most times.

That said, I’d also seriously consider Riviera as it’s new to both of you and looks gorgeous.

I would get a hotel in downtown Savannah, explore the city, maybe do a carriage ride and move the boathouse to your first Disney day.

Grand DestinoTower at CSR, Concierge Level splurge.
I think this is a lovely idea - the new Tower looks amazing and it's Club Level - if neither of you have experienced the Club Level in the past it's a nice way to give it a try and not have to commit to a whole stay.

As of today the Poly, Old Key West, and Bay Lake Towers has DVC studio availability for that one night.😉
