first night in wdw

Normally get to OKW about 6pm ET and get a CS dinner - we have 2 kids so try and get some sleep about 7pm.
I always book an early breakfast for the next day (about 7ish) in one of the parks - kids are up at 4/5am anyway.

Back from the park about 1pm - sleep for 3-4 hours and then we are good to go. Nicely reset:cool1:

catherine i think we need to look out for each other and say hi...it's the only way to do it seeing as we are doing the same thing lol

i am going to try and push for DTD even its it's just for something to eat and hangout the sleep thing :thumbsup2

i have an 8.05 character breakfast in the morning....which i am sooo looking forward to :cloud9:

We have a typical first night ritual - check-in, unpack, over to MK and Caseys for dinner, watch Wishes, come home, sleep! However, things doesn't always go to plan!!!

2007: 5-hr delay meant we didn't check in at Pop until just after midnight. We grabbed room service pizza and hit the sack.

2010 (May): 12-hours delay at Gatwick. Landed MCO at 3am, checked in at 5am. Got to the hotel just in time to see the sunrise! We unpacked, had showers, I dozed for an hour while others showered. We all got dressed and hit the park for the day - 48hrs on about 4hrs sleep! Wicked!

My advice: have a plan, but be prepared for it to change!

We normally get to resort check in, find room, unpack and shower. Once we are ready we go and have some food at the food court or take away pizza in our room.

We do have the plan to hit a park but once we get to our room the sleep monster gets us and we have to obey. :worship:

This year though we arrive on the 1st of october and being the big birthday for MK I really want to be there. Even if we only last an hour it will be worth it.

if we come in later in the day, we just go to DTD for a bite at earl of sandwich and then take it easy...
this year, we should be arriving at MCO at about 11 AM or noon, so i have reservations for us at the crystal palace for dinner (since we're on free dining)..

thank you for your replies :thumbsup2

i'm gonna try and talk them into DTD.......if not i should imagine we will just look around the resort (should they kick up a fuss lol) and be up and fresh for our ressie's

xx

we usually get there, unpack, have a shower and get changed, then go out for something to eat feeling rather tired!

Last time we headed straight off to epcot - went on spaceship earth then watched the illuminations and headed back to bed - just got us in the mood for the rest of the holiday. We are also planning on DTD this time as we will be arriving a little bit later and want to use our passes for the last day as we leave late too. Staying at port orleans so we are going to get the boat to DTD and then we thought that a trip on the tethered balloon and a quick snack would be a great start to the holiday. Planning to spend day one at animal kingdom as it closes earlier and have booked rainforest cafe there as a treat for the kids to end the first full day. Being young you should have enough energy to stay up late on your first day so enjoy it - we're old fogies now and need our sleep!

Last time we went we spent the first night exploring OKW, getting our bearings and getting drinks, snacks etc for the room. Next trip will be the first stay at a Universal hotel so the plan is to have a wander over to Citywalk, and I've pretty much made my mind up about having tea and a few cocktails at Margharitaville - a great way to start off a holiday methinks!

Staying at Saratoga this time, so after check in, probably walk over to DTD.

so the plan is to go to DTD when we arrive

as long as flights and check-in go smoothly that is
