Okay DIS friends, I need your advice.
My family is planning on flying in on an evening flight to save $$$. We then want to stay at an inexpensive offsite hotel that night, and check into POR the next morning. We will have 7 adults and 4 children (3 in carseats). We plan to use TTC from the airport to the offsite hotel, and a taxi to POR the next morning. Obviously, we want a hotel close enough to POR to not break the bank on taxi service. We will be using 3-4 hotel rooms. Has anyone got a good recommendation close to WDW and POR? WHen a hotel has "Maingate" in the title, how close is that?
Thanks for your help!:jester:

We were faced with the same problem. We are arriving after dinner at the Contemporary. We thought about staying offsite but then decided just to go ahead and go to the Contemporary and check in and just relax. If you are staying at PO (with one of the good summer codes) I assume you are paying around $90 to $100 a night. If this is true staying off site will probably save you about $25 to $30 a night. By the time you pay for a taxi and tip the next day, you probably would not end up saving that much. I guess it all depends on the rate you have. Just a thought.

Ok how about this....Go on Priceline and bid like $27 or so for a hotel at/near the Orlando Airport...the airport hotels all seem to have shuttles....you'll probably get a very decent hotel for a decent price and save the price of the towncar that night. The next day, take the town car to POR thus saving the price of the taxi. I think this will be cheaper AND easier than trying to get a hotel near POR which you probably couldn't do for less than $65 or so.

Good luck with it!

I like your idea on staying near the airport. I didn't realize some hotels did shuttles. That makes more sense.
We have 11 people coming in from 2 or 3 airports so the logistics of checking in together to get connecting rooms is better the next morning.
Thanks jennymouse and Sonya Francisco!

We are arriving MCO at 12:30am. I just booked the comfort suites orlando airport for $39 for queen suite and I emailed them and they said they could pick us up that late Their web site says the hotel is new. if interested www.comfortsuitesorlandoairport.com. This rate is for internet reservations only. I put in 3 rooms and 7 adults and 4 children for the same dates as mine (June 7) since I didn't know yours and it came back $117.00 before tax.

Hope this helps
Tracie
