Good morning all!! We are headed to DL in March 7-11th. Our flight lands at John Wayne @5:30pm on Saturday the 7th and we don't check-in to the Disneyland Hotel until Sunday the 8th...I'm trying to figure out if we stay close to the airport and then Uber to DH or still stay closer to DL and then Uber to DH... we will be staying at a Hilton property on points (open to suggestions). Logistically what do you think is easiest?? Will DH hotel hold our bags early in the morning so we can head to the parks on Sunday? Thank you in advance!!!

If you stay at a location close to DL then you could always go to DtD for dinner on arrival night and get a little Disney fix in. We’ve stayed at several of the properties along Harbor, paying and on points. Our fav is Homewood Suites (next to Toy Story lot), second choice would be the DoubleTree. Also stayed at the Hilton Convention Center, wasn’t super impressed but only paid $100 per night so price was right. I’d avoid Embassy Suites which is further down Harbor (Garden Grove area).

It’s going to be tough to find any decent hotel that is not charging an exorbitant amount of $$$ close to Disneyland on the 7th ! There is a huge convention that weekend ( Natural Products Expo West) , and hotels have been sold out for a while . Any remaining rooms are $$$$ !
Will prob be better off staying further away from Disney till your ready to check into DLH on the 8th .
Homewood Suites is a little farther from the expo , so you may have better luck with rates for your time frame ?

I agree with @Syndrome -- try to book ASAP! Rooms are very sparse that weekend due to the convention.

I also like the idea of being closer to DL and then heading over in the morning to DLH. You can check in as early as 6am and they will hold your bags. You can even still use EMH that morning if you get there early enough.

So we just had a similar situation. We booked 3 nights at the DLH with the thought that we would book a cheaper hotel for arrival day, spend the night, then go to DLH early and check in. We want to be at gates before opening to try to get a ROTR BG. Surrounding hotels were higher than usual, I am assuming due to a convention. So we were looking further out. Then we decided that we didn't want to have to get up super early, pack up the room, and drag the kids out even earlier than we initially thought. So we just splurged and booked the PPH for arrival day. Yes, we still have to pack up, but we can just walk our bags over to the DLH and check in at 6AM. DH plans to pop back over at some point in the day and move our car to the DLH parking lot. We found a good rate for the PPH on Undercover Tourist.

I believe if you are doing a split stay you can ask the Bellman to transfer your bags over to the DLH from PPH.
