We will be staying on the monorail...I have narrowed our first night dinner down to 3 choices: Ohana, Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Faire. Here's the cast of characters:

Me, have not been to WDW in 16 years :scared: Will eat anything.
DH, has never been to WDW in his life, picky eater
Triple trouble, aka our 3 DDs, who will be 6, 4 and 4. Also their first trip.

I would choose Ohana, but with DH's pickiness I am not so sure. I think the girls would love 1900 PF because of Cinderella. But Chef Mickeys sounds like so much fun. I just can't decide!!!!

I picked Chef Mickeys because I do not know when you are going. 1900 is going to be shut down for a while & they are doing a pre-plated thing at GF Cafe. We have done both & Chef Mickeys is a great way to start your trip.

CM is great way to start a trip. We have been twice and have loved it both times.

Have a great trip!:thumbsup2

Park Fare. What could be a more magical start to your trip then your 3 DDs (god bless you) getting to have dinner with Cinderella, Prince Charming, and the Fairy Godmother? My one DD princess: still talks about how Cinderella remembered her name and came by the table to say good night.

Chef Mickey's here. We start all of our trips with a visit to Chef Mickey's. I have thought about trying Ohana for dinner several times but I too am afraid our picky eaters would not like it too well.

Chef Mickey's! What's better than kicking off a trip than seeing Mickey Mouse?! ::MickeyMo Plus, the buffet is perfect for picky eaters.

I'd say that Chef Mickey's will definitely get you into the WDW spirit and kick things off right!

We are looking at trip number 14 and we always book CM's for our first dinner!!! It's so festive, and happy. The kids get to see Mickey and Minnie right off the bat, there are lots of food choices. Is the food the best food you will ever eat? No, but it's okay. Like I said, we eat there at least once each trip....always on our first day.

We vote for Chef Mickey's. U can't get a better start to ur Disney Vacation than dining with Mickey and Friends. You'll have the "Disney Feel" right from the beginning by dining at Chef Mickeys. Not to mention the food is awesome with a lot of variety and the entertainment is great for ur kids, u can't get any better than the "Napkin Dance" with Mickey and Friends on ur first night's dinner at "The World." Your kids will definitely love it and u guys will too just by seeing the smiling expressions that ur kids are going to have when they dine and have fun with Mickey and Friends.:goodvibes :thumbsup2

Chef Mickey's---no question about it. We have many little quirky traditions, but this one is HUGE must for us. The first year we went ds was 6 and we just happened to eat at Chef Mickey's first. DS is now 12 and still loves it. I think the atmosphere and seeing all of the "main" Disney characters is the best way to start off a Disney vacation. There is just a spirit and an energy here that can really put you in a Disney mood. Plus we always ride the monorail a complete trip before our ADR to see the castle.

Slightly OT story-

A couple of years ago the airline we were scheduled on went bellyup the night before our flight. We got to the airport at 5AM to find this out and ended up having to buy additional tickets and taking a MUCH later flight causing us to miss our ADR at Chef Mickey's for dinner. Knowing we were going to miss our ADR I was very upset and called the Dining number to see if they had anything for later-and the answer was no. When I explained what had happened and how this was our tradition, I was put on hold for a while and when the CM came back we had an ADR. She had called the restaurant and they worked us in. Disney magic and service came through :wizard:

Chef Mickeys is always our 1st night tradition, no matter where we stay. its our absolute favorite character meal and really gets the kids, DH and myself in the mood .

I picked 1900. The food is excellent, and the character interaction awesome. We took dd there when she was 2 1/2 and she fell in love with the place. Of course, she is a big time princess fan.

CM's would be at the absolute bottom of the list for me. We've always been less than impressed with the food, and the character interaction has always been hurried. That being said, the kids really enjoy it (but never eat a thing!!!).

Because its your first night I picked CM, just to get you in the Disney spirit. But because of the ages of your DDs I would strongly rcommend that you go to 1900PF during your trip. Not just for the characters but it has one of the best buffets on WDW property. Probably second best right behind Boma.

I picked CM as well. I think it is a great way to kick off a Disney trip and get into the Disney Spirit. It is a party like atmosphere and the characters are Disney regulars.

I would try to take your girls to 1900 Park Fare for the Cinderella dinner or to Akershus for the Disney Princess Storybook meal. My family chose breakfast becasue they did not care for the lunch or dinner menu. The buffet at the 100 PF is very good, and Prince Charming and the Mice are fun. The Princesses vary at the PSB but I do dnot believe that Cinderella is there. DGD saw Belle in her yellow dress, Mulan, Jasmine, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. I cannot remember if Ariel was there.

We will be staying on the monorail...

Forgive me for asking, but don't you think that might get uncomfortable? Plus not having a shower, toilet and having to share your room with other passengers.:confused3

Sorry - That's lame. I'm just in one of those moods today.;)

'Ohana is our first night tradition. One of our DS is a very picky eater, and he's always had more than enough to eat and select from...
