Hey gang- I am looking for ideas for our first night dinner. We are going Sept 3-9th and think the 3rd, our check in day will probably be crowded as that's Labor Day weekend. I think we've been talked into not doing a park day that day and just having a day at the BWV, where we are staying. We'll explore there and maybe DTD depending on time. So, I'd like to plan a nice or at least, fun, dinner for our first night. It'll be me, Dh, DS (3) and DNiece (10). Both kids' first time and niece will be excited and ready to go. DH will probably head to ESPN that night to catch the LSU game, but where to eat before. We don't want to eat there- rather do something special. Someone mentioned the Hoop-De-Do, but we aren't sure as we did it on our HM and aren't sure it's worth the expense with the kids. What do y'all think?

or Narcoose's, that way you can watch the fireworks (Wishes) if you have a ps say for about 8pm.

I would say start with Chef Mickey's at CR. The resturant has a great atmosphere. :goodvibes There is no better way to start off your vacation than with a character meal(Mickey and gang). ::MickeyMo The food is also very good and won't have a hard time finding the kids something to eat(if they are picky). Have a great trip!!!

Our favorite first night activity is to eat dinner at Trail's End Buffet at FW and then go to the campfire/singalong. They also show a Disney movie after. The singalong is fun and Chip and Dale show up for some character interaction.

O'Hana has become a first night tradition with my family. This past weekend, dh commented that he'd like to try 1900 Park Faire for dinner -- something we had never discussed. After checking out the reviews here, this really sounded good to me. Sadly, it was booked our first night. On the bright side, we already had a PS for O'Hana arranged at 90 days out.

So far, Trail's End and Chef Mickey's sounds right up our alley. We are planning CRT for b-fast or lunch one day and Crystal Palace one day as well. We'll have to decide on those now! Thanks gang!

I would try Ohana's or Chef Mickey's....Ohana's had become our first night tradition....

Chef Mickey's is our tradition

lalalalala my 100th post :))

Our first dinner tradition is Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. We went there straight from MCO on DD's first trip (she was 25 months). She was in awe from the moment we got out of the car and the monorail glided by overhead. She had a great time inside too--the characters, the song, the food, the monorail, the desserts! We start every trip the same way.

Last fall, we took DH's sister (40-something), BIL (50-something) and their two DDs (11 and 14) to Chef Mickey's for their 1st dinner ever at WDW. They had a blast--even the 14yo!

I think Chef Mickey's as our first dinner will be a lasting tradition for us!

Enjoy wherever you go!

Just a thought....

If you are arriving late afternoon or early evening then why not dine at your resort? It is a great resort, you might be surprised that you could be tired. Then to take a bus to your destination is just another step on a travel day.

My family won't arrive till 5:30 at Wilderness Lodge, we were going to try Downtown Disney but we figured after the plane ride, check in, unpack...it would be nice to just walk right into our Dinner at Whispering Canyon, then hang out by the pool.

But again just a thought. If you are arriving in the morning then just forget eveything I just said ;)

We'll probably arive at around noon-ish. Plus, we have some other nights planned at the resort and really want a good experience the first night. Ohana's looks great to me, but I think my niece wouldn't be liking the food too much. Y'all have been a huge help, though!
