First Kiss.

Thank God I never had the ''talk''. My parents just never thought it necessary to explain I guess.

By the time I went through puberty and realized members of the opposite sex didn't have cooties, I had already learned everything there is to know from school and my older sister

Basically my mom gave me a kinda sorta "period" talk. That was just weird so I told her that she didn't have to go on and I would figure it out on my own.

That's the last thing I've heard even remotely "growing up" kinda talk from her.

Oh but one time, my cousin told me you would get pregnant if you ate salad, and I wouldn't eat it for a week and I asked my mom if it was true. She stood there kind of stunned, then started to stutter. I took that as it wasn't true, and walked away.

I got both the sex talk and the period talk from my mom. It wasn't bad, though. I asked her one day, when it was just the two of us.

just let it flow. and if you think she wants it don't be afraid to ask if she minds if you kiss her, sometimes that is really sweet and romantic. just don't do it everytime you want to kiss her. don't make the moment, just let it happen. if she wants it and you want it then there will be MANY instences in the date when it will be the right time. you WILL know, just don't think about it too much.

Yes salad pregnant. My cousin was always mean to her, and I thought I could trust her because she was in medical school at the time.

When my mom first tried to give me "period talk" it was when my other, younger cousin was spending the night, and she had forgotten her feminine products. So my cousin and mom were running around the house trying to find the correct size and they eventually just went to the store. I asked my mom what a period was, but she wouldn't tell me. And then I asked my aunt and she still wouldn't say. I dropped it.

Of course, I found out later, but my mom has always been kind of awkward around those "talks". But just regular talk about it doesn't bother her, but those initial "explanation" conversations.

I dread the day I have to give my future children "the talk".
