First Haircut @ WDW for DS 8.5 Months?

One person stated, in a recent thread about first haircuts in the Theme Park section, that the child has to complete sit on their own to be able to get his/her hair cut.

Is this true? Our DS has some curls forming on his neck and around the ears (just like his Dad, lol) so I wanted to have some fun on our trip next week and get them cut off at the MK.

Generally he sits by himself pretty well, until he gets distracted and leans to the side and sometimes tips over.

Has anybody had any experience with this?

Yes, they do have to be able to sit on their own. A friend from work wanted her 11 month old to have his hair cut and they weren't able to have it done.

I have to disagree. DS 10 months sat on my lap while he got his first haircut at the barber shop in MK. But then again he was able to sit unassisted though but I just felt safer holding him myself similar to the reason you are saying....he sits fine and if he gets distracted he'd be off the chair in a second. Actually the lady even suggested I hold him myself.

Go for it. It was sooo cute. And she was really nice. We went to Rope drop that day. And only had one person in front of us. And they did a few really cute things

I was also able to hold my son 2 years ago for his first cut. I do not know that they changed the policy?

My 1 yr old sat on my lap last week. I think they mean that they need to be able to sit up to have their hair cut, not necessarily sit alone.

By the way, be sure to get there early in the day. The ours are 9-5 daily and there tends to be long lines. We get there on an early emh day, head to the bakery for breakfast and then wait at the door so we are first (hopefully)

My 18 month old sat on my lap just YESTERDAY for his first haircut there. No problems. I asked if I should try to seat him by himself or hold him and the barber said it was my choice. In the end, we decided to hold him because he can be a little fussy. Actually, though, he was pretty good, and only started crying half way through.
