Hi :)

Awhile back I noticed someone had mentioned that little kids getting their first haircut in MK (I believe that's the right park) got little "extras" after they were done.

Which place is this in MK?

DH is getting on me about giving DD a hair cut but I haven't had the heart to do so (it's such pretty baby hair!). lol However, I think all the little "perks" would make her interested enough to sit still and it would be a bearable thing for her... and me ;) TIA!

DD had this done a couple of years ago! :goodvibes

The kids get a certificate, mouse ears embroidered with "First Haircut", pixie dust and mums get to keep the locks of hair they cut! ;)

DD was 3 y.o. but had never had a haircut before - she didn't have enough hair to cut before that! :rotfl2: BTW - Billie (who cut DD's hair and was fantastic!) could tell it was her first haircut just by running her fingers through DD's hair! :)

DD still talks about her "Disney" haircut and was actually wearing her mouse ears a couple of days ago! :rotfl:

We did this too! DD actually sat through it with no problem. I have the hair wrapped in a napkin or something and they added pixie dust to it.
It is at the barber shop on Main Street.

I hope to get her hair cut there again.

My youngest ds did this too. It's a great experience. Since then he has had several more haircuts on mainstreet. My only piece of advise is to ask the hairdresser/barber not to give the child anything they can't keep. I've seen so many children cry when they give backt he Buzz Lightyear spinner or some other toy. Maura is our favorite. She usually give ds a bunch of stickers.

You get all of the extras, and from what I remember it was less than $20. THE best deal at Disney by far!! Michal cut our DS's hair; he was fantastic...it was quite an ordeal for DS, but well worth it. My older DS and DD also get their hair cut there and have "pixie dust" sprinkled on. My 12yo DS had a green Mickey painted on the back of his head (he has a short buzz cut.)

DO IT. So worth it, and it's those little bits of magic that make Disney so... well, magical! pixiedust:

We just did this when we were there in April. Our dd is 11 months and it was her first haircut. She didn't have a lot to cut and I told the gal (Mary) not to cut a lot off bcuz we were just doing it for the experience and she was wonderful!! She was so excited to be the first to cut dd's hair and was so good with her. She gave her stickers, saved her hair for me, signed her certificate and dd got the pink First Haircut ears. All of this for $14!! :goodvibes My advice - go early in the day!! We got there around 10:45 and had 1/2 hour wait and the line was LONG when we walked out!! Ds got Mickey Ears painted on his head for $5 and I saw lots stopping in for Pixie Dust. :) I think they close around 5 pm.

Have fun and go for it!! :thumbsup2

That sounds like a great deal. My youngest will be 20 months when we go and has never had a haircut yet. Well, with the exception of me trying to trim her bangs. :)

I have thought about doing this with my youngest. She has never had her first haircut. Sounds great.

Go there right when you enter the park. On the left with at the barber poll. Wish we knew about the first hair cut deal years ago. We discovered this gem on a trip 2 years ago DDs were 6 & 9 at the time. Had a ball. We stopped first thing in the a.m. to check about appointments. Glad we did. We were the first in line and they explained there are no appointments. . . you simply stand in line and wait. It is considered a Disney attraction and sometimes the wait can be 2-3 hours! Initially we thought we wouldn't want to do this first . . we wanted to hit those rides. But the girls just loved the pixie dust and mickeys on their hairdos. Lots of people wanted to know where they got it done! Just a little more Disney magic and for $14 the price is right!

Sounds like this will be our first stop before heading to MGM :) Heck, we pay $14 here for little kids haircuts even when there's nothing to really "cut" :rolleyes2 And it's great that they can do something for DS, too even though it's not his 1st haircut and it will be magical for all of us :wizard:

I'm getting my DS 1st cut there next month! My husband can't believe I'm waiting just to have it done at MK! I had a nightmare about it a few days ago. In the dream I sat DS up in the barber chair. The barber sprinkled some pixie dust and ran his fingers through my son's hair and that was it. I said, "That's not a real cut!" The barber looked at me and said, "Nothing's real in the MK! What did you expect!" :rotfl:

I'm glad to hear that so many people were happy with their REAL haircuts!!

I, too, was planning on having DD's hair cut for the first time when we go Sept 30- Oct 7. She will be almost 3 by that time... but she's hardly got any hair to speak of!

So glad that everyone's had a positive experience!

We did it 10 years ago with DS (11); Nine years agao with DS (10) and 4 years ago with DD (almost 4). It has been a great experience all three times. The first thing we do on every trip is head to the Main Street Baber Shop to see Michael and Billie and get our haircut (mee too!)! It brings tears to my eyes just remembering it!

My son had his hair cut there on our recent trip. The hours are 9-5. We got there at 8:45, first in line! 4 more cuts lined up just after us, so it was great! He had the red spikes in front, pixie dust as well as a big red mickey in back...how cute. Well worth the time! It is a highlight of our trip!

Our son had his first haircut there last year. It is definately worth it. Our son is not an easy child and we were very nervous he wouldn't sit through it. We got there early, I think early is a must for younger kids, anyway he sat in the chair and Michael was our barber. Loved him!!! He put stickers all over our son. DS was so busy picking off the stickers he didn't even notice he was getting his haircut. By far one of the best experiences!!!

Does anyone have any pics of the place or the finished product of the haircuts with pixie dust and such?

I have a 12 DD and was wondering with the cut do they also style her hair.??? We are going to book the BBB but would also like her to have a cut and style a couple of days before that???

I have tons of pictures from our visit to the barber shop here
Michel was fabulous! It was so worth it and the girls had a blast.
