Can someone give me more info on their experience at the barber shop? I was interested in getting my dd 22 months her first haircut there. I'm not sure if its "for girls" or am I wrong??

I had my DD and DS's 1st haircuts there! It was great! They are used to kids, so the "barbers" (2 women in there when we went) really know how to do a good job and help distract the little ones! you get a certificate of a 1st haircut, they save some hair for you with some "pixie dust" and a pair of mickey ears with "first haircut" embroidered on them!!!! It's totally for girls too!!! What a magical experience - have fun!

Had DD's first cut at 26 months at the Harmony Barber Shop, she has fine/loose curly hair and Michael did a great job! Actually the next 2 cuts I got at home were horrible and it took me a year to find a place to take her to when we aren't at Disney.

That's too funny! My dd has very fine wispy hair too. I am excited so excited. I will have to let ds do it too! Now I just have to see where to fit it into our touring plans;):rotfl:

A word of caution since you're excited (as I was):

If you want to get it done, be there when they open or plan on circling back by there periodically throughout the day to see if the line is short. We had planned to have DS2's (then 11 months) first cut there when we went in September 2008 (a very unbusy time), but we got to the barber shop at 10 minutes after opening and found a line about 10 people deep. The line was about half kids and half adults getting the spackle and glitter treatment. We waited for about half an hour and moved up about four feet, so we gave up. Rather than waste park time, we just waited until we got back home. If I had it to do over again, I'd be first in line at rope drop and bee-line it to the barber shop!

that's crazy! We walked right in (september 2009), but I think it was because a parade was about to start!

yeah, we had to wait about 40 minutes our last September trip, but DD wanted to donate her hair to locks of love while at Disney, and we had a bbb appt. later that day, so we had to do it then. I probably have the only 8 year old w/ first haircut ears, but it was. She didn't even start growing hair until she was almost three, and we cut 12 inches off. I had trimmed the wispies at home, but the barber there said that didn't count and gave her the ears and certificate.

I'd also say to go around parade time - I refuse to wait for (more than say, 1 person) my DS to get his hair cut. We've tried going at rope drop with no success; he's had his hair cut 3x there; twice was shortly before the parade, the other time was just before closing- we thought they were already closed because there was no one there! DS has had his hair cut twice by Michal, and once by Diane- great jobs all 3 times.

Thanks for the tip! I am definitely not going to waste a rope drop for a haircut. We will do rides and see if we can fit it in while we are waiting for a parade or first thing when coming back in the evening, etc.

This is SOOO cool - I didn't know about this! DS will be 18 months when we go and we've been meaning to get his hair cut for a while... now we can get it done in style.... awesome :)

We didn't either. We went late morning (10:30/11ish) the last two years around Memorial Day. We waited about 20 mins.

My sister took her DD in Sept (not sure what time) and said that was the longest line they waited in the whole trip (almost 90 mins).

We took our then 2 year old dd to get her first haircut at MK. Big sis was doing the BBB so we wanted something special for the little one too. It was a great experience.
I'll bring my little boy to get a haircut when we go back in March.
