First haircut at MK? Experiences?

We did this and didn't have a great experience. We had to wait a while and DD was pretty antsy by the time it was her turn. She got the older gentleman as her barber which was our bad luck since she had a fear of older men at the time. She wasn't crying but she was pretty on edge the whole haircut. I hated the haircut. All he did was trim her bangs and he cut them very, very short. She looked like a boy. He didn't touch the back even though she needed it. We got her haircut on her 1st birthday.

We did it with our girls on their first trip there. It was both their first haircuts, and it was great. Our youngest - 2 years 3 months - didn't really like it to much, kept asking to get down, blah blah blah, but it was done, and it looked nice. My oldest - almost 4 - just loved it (and yes, it was her first hair cut!!) and she actually looked really nice in the cut they gave her. In all truth, it was a cheap haircut - didn't even wet the hair at all, took less than 5 minutes total, but its the experience that counts! Have fun!!!

We did this last year. I made my poor baby girl wait untill we went, she had hair in her face for about a month! They did a great job and were really good with keeping her entertained and still ! They gave her bubbles but she did not know what to do with them so daddy blew bubbles while baby played with buzz lightyear. It was awesome!

All 3 of my girls have had their first haircuts at Disney - it is a wodnerful experience - I wouldn't worry about her not sitting- it is amazing how they will listen to other people when told to!

Maria or Michael are the absolute best! We have either one of them each time.

We did this with my son when he was just over 1 year old. They were absolutely terrific! He's now almost 3 and I swear that was the best haircut he ever received. They were fast, had LOTS of distractions (stickers, toys, etc.) He got a certificate, mickey ears w/ "first haircut" embroidered on the back, and she wrapped up some of his hair in some tissue and mixed it w/ Mickey confetti and sealed it w/ a Mickey sticker. VERY cute! Great first haircut memory. Just be sure to get their right when they open or you may be waiting for awhile!

Michel cut our DS for his first hair cut too, he was was about 16 months old. He was amused with stickers and a Mickey light up toy, and my dad entertained as well. It came out pretty cute and we got all the "fixings" - the ears, certificate, hair wrapped up in pixie dustpixiedust: - it was great. We're going to try to get his hair cut there next month too...we had no wait going just before the parade.

Our son was 16 months and we got his haircut on New Year's Day this year. Totally memorable experience and worth it. She did a great job on his hair cut and was really good with him. The only annoying part was having to wait for older men to get their hair cut before it was our son's turn since it's first come first serve. Totally worth the $20 we paid ($15 plus the tip we gave). We took a picture by the barber pole afterwards.

I am wondering if there is an age limit for first haircuts? I am one of those mom's that hasn't gotten dd's hair cut yet and when we go, she will be 4! She was bald for so long, I was just enjoying that she actually had hair!! It is starting to get unruly now and I would love to have this experience! I don't think ds will have much hair by then since he is 7 months and still pretty bald.

Both my girls and my niece got their first hair cut at Disney. Only one of them got a disapointing hair cut however the experience was super and I would trade to not so good hair cut for the experience and great picture any day. The blew bubbles, played with stickers and loved every minute of it. Have a great trip and enjoy the magic they grow fast!

I don't remember seeing anything about an age limit- I'd just be honest tell them it's her first time!
Here's what wdwinfo.com has to say:

"First Haircuts" are the shops specialty. Children who receive their first haircut at the shop will get a complimentary Mickey Ears "First Haircut" stitched on the back and a certificate of the unforgettable event to take home.

I'm thinking of getting my DD14 months 1st haircut next month at the Barbershop. She really doesn't need a lot cut not do I want a lot cut. I'm not even sure what I want to do with her hair as far as bangs vs no bangs.

Are the stylists there pretty good with girl's hair too or do they mostly work with shorter boys cuts?

We took ds for his first cut on his first birthday. We did a CP breakfast before the park opened and were waiting for the barber shop to open after. I was a little disappointed, but not enough that we won't be doing it again this year for the baby.

Here's a pic of the certificate:

We did this for my son who was 18 months at the time. All around excellent experience. He played with stickers and a Buzz Lightyear toy. He even wore the first haircut ears (for about 10 minutes:rotfl:).

One of my favorite WDW vacation memories (and one of the cheapest as my husband would point out :lmao:).

So I wonder how limited they are...I cut my DD bangs...does that count as a 1st haircut or would they consider 1st professional cut? hmm, any opinions appreciated!

I did DS hair cut at 9mos! The lady we had was awesome! I'll try to find the pictures. They gave him stickers and he just played and chewed on them, he even sat still for the clippers. I couldn't believe it. It was a great thing to do with him, I really enjoyed it. The hard part I had was, I was NOT giving him his first haircut. I gave all my kiddos their first haircut. I did enjoy watching it though. (note: I'm a barber) He has now had his second haircut and still not afraid of the clippers, THANK GOODNESS!:thumbsup2

He doesn't have that much hair and it's baby fine, they still did a great job. It's so worth it. We may go there for a haircut every time now. That would be the only haircut I would pay for. I'll let the girls get their hair painted, I'm pretty picky on their style for their hair.

Our DS got his first haircut at the MK barber shop on his first birthday. They did a wonderful job and kept him entertained while they cut his hair. I love the Mickey ears that say 'First Haircut' on them.:goodvibes
