If a woman was elected to the White House, what would we call her husband? And more to the point, what would we expect of him, as far as her campaign, support and eventually administration?

Ask Bill when he gets out of the hospital :rotfl: :rotfl:

Using Dennis Thatcher as the closest example I can think of, I'd say expectations aren't all that different from a First Lady. Let the one running/elected stay the focus of attention.

On another thread, posters are lauding Laura Bush as a great First Lady because she is "graceful" and "classy". Is this what we would want out of our First Gentleman too?

Classy, I'd say yes. Graceful, well... I don't think that's particularly important for either.

We need to at least get Condi dating first.......
Now that would be interesting. If a pres was in a relationship, but not married, would that make their partner the First Significant Other? (lol)

Actually, Mandy and I were just talking this morning on how great it would be to have Condi Rice as president.

When he was on Oprah she already asked him that.

"Have you thought about what it would be like to be the first husband?" asked Oprah.

"No but I would do whatever the duties require," said Clinton.

If he's smart, he'll tour every golf course in the country on the taxpayers dime. :teeth:

Funny I saw that Oprah, and I must have misheard Mr. Clinton, I heard....
"No but I would do whomever the duties require," said Clinton

Actually, the "First Lady' has not always been the President's wife, as not all Presidents have been married. I can't remember exact details, but I know at least one had his niece as First Lady, and I know it's been a relative at least one other time. I think First Lady is actually an official title that's given usually to the President's spouse, but if that's not an option, to another chosen person.
