:woohoo: In just 27 looong days we'll be using our DVC points to actually stay at the Disney resort (1st trip was to Cabo through RCI) and I am just busting with excitement. We have stayed with friends at the OKW and AKV and both were fabulous.

We have a dedicated 2 bedroom. :lovestruc

I have called with our villa # request, contacted Vacation Planning to set up some magic pixiedust: and made our PS (ADRs in Disneyland speak) but am wondering if I am missing something big, little, or just plain helpful with regard to the GCV?

:thanks:

Wow! I think you have it covered. :thumbsup2

I stayed in a one bedroom last September and will be staying in a 2 bedroom dedicated this summer after your visit. Let me know how your request goes. Are you requesting a specific room or a particular view?

When we next visit I am planning to pack a few items for the kitchen (salt, pepper, spices for cooking, ect) and washing machine detergent, but other than that the villas are pretty well stocked. So just plan what you want to pack and other than that you are more prepared than many of us. I am looking forward to your TR.

Have fun! :yay:

I didn't know they had dedicated two bedrooms. OK, they have 50 two bedroom equivalents, how many are dedicated? It seems like not a lot of studios would be available?

oh, and hang on, you know what number the villa is that you want? You are very researched! Is there a resort map around?

Hi rentayenta,
Double digit countdown ~ YEAH! Sounds like you have thought of it all. Now just sit back, relax and before you know it you will be at Disney having a magical trip. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Congratulations on your first visit! We were in a dedicated 2-bedroom on April 26. Depending on what you like to do there are events at the Grand Californian that you might want to enjoy. I don't think that advanced reservations are needed for them.

Some things that you might want to consider:

Lunch at Storyteller's Cafe. This is the casual restaurant, but since it is really easy to get to from DCA I like going there instead of eating in the park. It is quiet, unrushed, and has good food.

Depending on your tastes you might want to consider eating at the Napa Rose too. Very pricey, but very good.

Sorry, we have a 2 bedroom lock-off but there are dedicated 2 bedrooms as well. I requested a particular room.

Good idea on the spices. :thumbsup2 We won't do tons of cooking but if DH does want to cook, he will need more than s&p.

Thanks! I am beyond excited about this trip.

I don't know how many there are but they do have some.

In the Disneyland section there is a mega long GCH thread and there was a map there that I printed out. The numbers though were SO tiny.

:goodvibes I just cannot wait and with any luck at all I will be adding on a few points at the GCV. pixiedust:

The Napa Rose menu looks delicious but our friends want to try the Blue Bayou and with 6 in our party and 5 in theirs that will already cost quite a bit but I agree that the Napa Rose would be a nice treat.

We have a breakfast PS for Storyteller's. :thumbsup2

Sounds like you're all set. The best part of VGC and DLR is you don't have to plan as much as you do for WDW. Everything is very close and no buses to ride. Sit back, take it all in and enjoy!

I found that grand californian thread and the resort map - thanks@!

:goodvibes I am trying. The World of Color lack on info is making me crazy.

:thumbsup2 It's a great thread but overwhelming.

I think it's either 23 or 24 (I think 23) 2BR dedicated, 23 or 24 2BR lockoffs (same number as dedicated), and 2 GVs.

The somewhat scary part is that there are so few studios and 1BRs (23) at such a high point resort. I think the 11 month window is defintely going to pay off at VGC.

I agree. I am shocked that we got a 2 bedroom at 7 months. Even more reason I am wanting a GCV add-on.

In a mathematical sense, the 2BRs should be the easiest to get at 7 months since those have the highest possible room count. I think smaller families, like ours (3), are going to be hard pressed to get studios and 1BRs at 7 months as the resort sells. That's why we have 150 at VGC.

Smart. :thumbsup2

We have 5 and could do a 1 bedroom but a 2 bedroom is so roomy. :cloud9: We will have to do a bedroom though during part of our SSR stay for our mega December 2011 trip.
