First Ever DISUnplugged Podcast Cruise Take Three

Alrighty...here's what i've found..

FL Tours
Transfers from the Airport to the Dolphin & back to the Airport
Towncar - $109 - up to 4 ppl
Van - $124 - up to 10 ppl
Limo - $200 - up to 9 ppl

Transfers from the Dolphin to Port Canaveral and back to the Dolphin
Towncar - $240 - up to 4 ppl
Van - $320 - up to 10 ppl
Limo - $365 - up to 9 ppl

Todd & Jen & anyone else who may be arriving in Orlando around 10am on Saturday 5/9 - if you guys are interested, we could do the van rental picking us up at the airport and taking us to the Dolphin (BWV possibly)...we would figure out how to divide that up appropriately since we wouldn't all be doing the roundtrip thing. And it does include a 30 minute grocery stop along the way...not sure if the driver chooses the place we stop or if we do...never done it before so I don't know!

For transfers to Port Canaveral and back to the Dolphin, we're open to sharing a ride with anyone!

I would imagine that we would need to book this stuff soon though, right? To avoid the mad rush of DISers?

I would imagine you would just tell the driver where you wanted to go...ie Wal-Mart, Publix, Winn Dixie, ABC Liquor and they'll take you to one on the way. If you don't know the name specifically and say "Grocery Store" the driver will take you somewhere, but it could be Goodings.

holy cow at that snow. of course this is coming from a texan! it is 30 something today. chilly enough for here. you guys getting the single digits and negative temps stay warm!!!

time to go check budget and dollar and see about changing our rental.

Brandie- congrats on DH's degree- what a big accomplishment!

I actually just prefere renting a car- we like the convenience. I don't even mind driving to port. We just like the freedom it affords us to get up and go where we want, when we want. but i understand it can be a pain sometimes too (like when trying to find a parking space at DTD! )

Just like most people here, Shanan and I are weighing our options on transportation.
We're going from Dolphin to cruise, then to Pop, then a couple days at Boardwalk to try out DVC for the first time (renting points to see how much we like it).
I'm 99.9% sure we have transfers from Dolphin to cruise, then the cruise to Pop through AskTracy, and I'm also 99.9% sure we will get ME from the Boardwalk stay... so right now we're just debating the cost effectiveness of renting a car to get to Dolphin or simply taking a taxi/shuttle there.
I'm glad to know we aren't alone in the indecision of what to do

AskTracy: what's "the window" for celebrations on the cruise? DH's b'day is about 3 weeks out of the cruise dates and I'm not sure if that's stretching it. If it is, no worries...just curious as I like to keep the vacation gatekeeper happy

I was just wondering. Jaime asked because her flight doesn't leave until 3:30. We should be off the ship by 9 - 9:30 at the latest.

Mindy- i used the budget code and that saved me a TON- thanks!

we are booked now with Budget for 5/8-5/10- pick up at MCO and return at Cape C. $84 for a full size 4door. What I had with Hertz was $139, so huge savings, plus on site at MCO and apparently Budget is closest to port (3 miles).

Okay, so I got a car from Budget, compact, 5/8-5/10, and just the day on 5/14, for a total of $124. This DID include codes. You wouldn't want to rent any car without codes, IMO. Or at least checking out their online specials.
There is no fee for dropoff at a different point with Budget.

I agree using codes I was able to get a rental for May 9-10 for $37 midsize car and from May 14 -18 for $130 full size car from Budget.

They better buy before they get that little envelope under the door at the end of the cruise. That could set them back years!
