I'm actually a little sheepish about telling that story because (being an idiot) that was one of the first things I told Shanan (back before we were even dating). I told the story so badly that I was afraid I lost her interest
Thankfully that wasn't the case

Aaron McKie was an NBA player, drafted back in 1994, when my brother Jordan and I collected cards (geeky, yes I know). He was a nobody, but one of his rookie cards caught our attention because we couldn't tell if it was a painting or a picture. I nicknamed him The Painted Man and then started watching him play (at the time on Portland, then Philly). I actually liked how he played, and became a pretty big fan of the way he played defense, so he became 'my guy'.
He took the Sixers to the Finals (ok, Iverson helped a little) and was named 6th Man of the Year in 2001, so it was pretty cool to see the guy I chose as an inside joke between my brother and I to become a really good player.

I love him so much (and also as a nod to my brother) I named my first born after him It's spelled Aaron Mickey, and although the middle name is also a nod to the Mouse, I insist it is pronounced mckie (but in reality I'm the only one that pronounces it that way).

Don't bother trying to be aaronmckie in just about any forum or email address, I think I have them all

Yes, I am and it is spelled the same way! Very few people call me Katherine. Usually it's Kathy, Kath, Kat or bit... oh wait, family board.

This cracked me up to the point people in the office were giving me funny looks. It is so hard to explain why it is funny to a bunch of people who have no clue!

Should I even tell you that our are doing a 2010 calendar? The contest to choose the lucky ones is being held May 7...I will miss it as my flight is way to early to stick around for that.
