Here's the story. My in-laws have wanted to take my husband and me on a cruise forever. We stalled and stalled and stalled. Since moving to Atlanta four years ago, my mother-in-law has been persistant since we can now drive to a port instead of flying. I finally decided to shut her up by telling her the only way I'd go on a cruise is if it was a Disney one. I'm a Disney World veteran (over 36 trips) and love The Mouse.

Result? We're booked on the 12/10/05 Eastern Magic. Once I told my mother-in-law it was Disney or bust, we had everything taken care of in two short weeks. I was amazed. The best part is that my in-laws are paying for the whole thing.

I've never cruised, am a planner so I will be bombarding this board with questions in the next months. I've already done a ton of research so I feel a bit educated on things.

In-laws are in a cat 6 on deck 6, we are in a cat 8 on deck 7. Both rooms are towards the front of the ship per my mother-in-law's request (she's a veteran cruiserand I deferred to her wishes). I already know some of the things I want to do. A massage is essential and so is the Rainforest Room. The wine tasting a must.

I've got a zillion questions but need to research this board to see if the answers are out there already. It figures, I finally get to the point where a trip to Disney World is no big deal and now I have almost a year to obsess over a cruise. It's a miracle my husband puts up with me.

Welcome to the DIZ board. You have come to the right place to get information on DCL. Our first cruise is Dec 17, 2005 - so take care of the ship for us. :sunny: Also you need to go to the cruise meet page (on the top of the DCL forum page) and find the Dec 10 cruise meet thread. You will meet other DIZer's going on your cruise. Have a great time!

Kudos to you guys!!! Just gotta say that I WISH my inlaws or anyone else would take me on a cruise :) I would not wait, would be one the phone booking...

SO, enjoy all your planning, and you will find a wealth of information on this board, as well as the most helpful bunch around...

disnut8, welcome. These boards can be the best source of information out there, just take everyone's opinions, good and bad with an open mind. There will be many of us out here more than willing to answer your questions and give you input. There are also a couple of excellent sources of informtion, and being an obsessive planner myself, I've used anything I can get my hands on.

The other fun thing about the boards is you kind of start your cruise experience way ahead of time and can keep it alive long after you get back. We sailded in January and dont' officially have another cruise booked yet, but hang out here several times a day.

Have you gone to the Disney Cruise Line web site and ordered the planning DVD? This is a lot of fun, plus it has some nice features, like great views of state rooms in each category. We still watch ours when we need a fix. The Passporter guide is also excellent and great to take with you on the trip.

I have found that by getting all the information I can, knowing as much as I can and planning as much as I can ahead of time, allows me and my family to really relax on the trip. We also are able to be flexible and adaptable to changes that come up, and we've had a few.

Enjoy the processes, I think it's part of the fun!

Come on over and join us on the cruise meet board. DH, myself, as well as my uncle and aunt will be on this cruise with you. It is alot of fun to meet other DISers.

Us & our friends are in rooms 7500 & 7504 so we will be neighbors in the forward area. That is my favorite spot...the only place we have booked for three cruises now. Very quiet. Join us on the meets thread. I am in the process of switching our cruise website over to another site but it should be back up in a couple weeks.

Well, dang. Whoever is in 7504 will be our connecting door neighbors. We have GOT to talk.

ROFL!!! We will definitely see you on the ship then! :) I promise that we don't let the kids scream alot. ;) Honestly, by the time they get to the room at night, they are just about asleep.

I can't wait. I can just see the look on my mother-in-law's face when I introduce our neighbors to her. "Oh look, here's Lisa and her family. They are from, wherever, they like whatever, their kids are whoever". All within the first hour of boarding.

You'll have to let us know if the constant stream of ESPN on the TV is disturbing you. I thought the husband would cry for joy when I told him that station was available on board. He won't get a daily newspaper but he'll get his sports coverage.
