First DVC trip- what am I forgetting?

Starting to pack for our first DVC trip (split stay OKW/THV). We're flying so we're going to try to bring just carry-ons and backpacks. We will have a rental car and plan to stop at the grocery store on our way to OKW. I'm planning to bring a few necessities like laundry detergent and dishwasher soap so I don't have to buy larger quantities than I need. Is there anything I am likely to need (paper products maybe?) at the villa that we should plan to buy on our way? What about things like salt & pepper? We've stayed in vacation rentals in various places and have ended up buying such things and then getting to the house and discovering many others did the same.

I've seen the lists of what's included in the villa, just wondering about the little things that experienced DVCers would know to bring along. Thanks!

Keep in mind that all carry on liquids have to be under 3 ounces and fit in one 1 quart bag per person.

When I go shopping; I purchase the salt and pepper shakers and any needed spices/condiments. They will not be there. Once in a while, I do find a salt/pepper hanging around but I still don't use it.

Our Target store sells the all-in-one laundry sheets so if you have the carry on luggage, you may not have to worry about the liquid detergent. Or the pods or small powder detergent.

Some other items:
Coffee filters (basket not cone)
power strip
the salt/pepper shaker
some zipper baggies
sharpie
if you think you need any condiments or butter, ketchup, mustard, sugar, honey, etc. you have to get those on the way.
some people bring a water filter, others buy a case of water

you will get dish soap, sponge, paper towels & starter bath soap & shampoo & there will be an ice bucket

Yep, good thing we'll have 2 kids (10 and 8) with us so I can put some of my stuff into their quart-size bags. I have trial size of everything, so we should be good.

Great tips... thanks! I do have the Purex laundry sheets. DH will probably bring along some coffee and filters, so we'll pack some sugar packets, too. I have some S/P shakers left from our last vacation, so maybe I'll just throw those in as well. I hate to keep buying them and wasting them. I added ziplocs and a sharpie to my list.

Maybe microwave popcorn, perhaps some ready to bake cookies, you sound good to go!

If you like Pepsi, bring it along as all the resorts have only Coke products unless this has changed very recently. :coffee:

I bring a small pair of scissors.

The rooms do not have hand or body lotion. I have had to buy a bottle or two at Disney as my skin got so dry. Chapstick is usually welcome.

On the day you move, you have to be out of your villa by 11 am and perhaps not able to get into your new digs until 4 pm. Sometimes you can get in sooner. I would not get too many refrigerator items or freezer items, unless you have a way of keeping them cool. Disney can store them for you, but that is just an extra step when you move.

Enjoy:cheer2:

Sugar is provided as are paper products. You will have a one load box of laundry detergent when you check in to OKW. I suggest using it there or taking it with you to THV and you'll have one more box there too. Maybe you won't need to buy any. Zip lock bags in a couple of sizes are handy for leftovers, keeping your cell phone dry, bringing wipes for cleaning/wiping faces or tables at the parks along with other uses.

We're not big soda drinkers, but that's good to keep in mind. I will definitely bring lotion and chapstick!

Still debating on how to manage our "move." We don't have much planned for that day so probably will just keep our luggage in our car and spend a few hours at DTD. We probably will have bell services store our cold items, but we also have the option of taking them to my sister's off-site timeshare where she and my BIL will be staying. We'll do that if we end up hanging out with them that day. Good to have options!

Good to know about the sugar! I'll have the laundry sheets, so I'm not worried about that. Anyone know what kind of detergent they provide at OKW? I can be a bit sensitive with detergent.

Will definitely bring along some ziplocs, thanks!

As I always say to DH, doesn't matter if we forget something because we're not stuck in the boonies or Europe - we're going some place with real stores.

They used to have Tide, but now they have All.

I measure out a pot's worth of coffee, and put it in a ziploc with a filter. I pack several of these. As I use them up, I have more ziplocs if I need them.

I also do it with powder Tide. I put a dryer sheet in each ziploc.

I also pack:
tea bags
foil sheets (no aluminum foil in the room and all I need are a few sheets)
big ziplocs

After my last disappointing stay at BWV (not clean upon check in) I'm adding Lysol Wipes to the list to clean off the toilet seats and bathroom counters. Here's my usual list:

1. Purex laundry sheets
2. Lotion (there is none)
3. Full size shampoo/conditioner
4. Nail clipper (you always just need one)
5. Foil sheets
6. Quart size ziploc bags
7. Starbucks Via instant coffee (i'm lazy)
8. Flip flops for the shower
9. Dish washing detergent (the one they give you is small)
10. Case of bottled water
11. Styrofoam cups for random uses
12. Lysol wipes

Figures... I think All is what I'm allergic to! Good idea about the coffee, I'll suggest that to DH. And great tip about the foil sheets.
