hey guys! My wife and I just had an offer accepted on a dvc contract we’re wanting to buy. It’s a resale Saratoga springs contract and we are cautiously optimistic that with the price we are paying we will pass rofr. We are planning our first trip using points for late January of 2020. We will be very happy if all we are able to get is Saratoga springs but I was wondering, what suggestions do you guys have for resorts to try to get into for our first trip??

It’s just the two of us and we will be happy in a studio. We will have 100 pts.

First, book your home at 11 months so that you have a place to stay! Then I would review the points charts to see what you can “afford” at other resorts and think about what you want to do during your trip (parks, DS, just enjoy the resort itself?). January is a low-cost month but is pretty easy to book (after Marathon Weekend is over), so you’ll have a good chance of swapping out at 7 months no matter where you choose.

After my home BWV, I love AKL and VGF and can hardly wait for our CCV/BWV split stay this coming January!

With 100 points I guess you're looking at studios. Late January, after the marathon week end has passed, you should have good luck booking at 7 months. If, like me, you want to visit all resorts over time, I would suggest to prioritize by how difficult is to get a resort. So you can keep trying over the years until you get the most difficult ones too.
So, if you see availability, you can start with VGF and CCV, which are very difficult to book for studios. BCV is hard to get too, but I'd leave it for a warmer month, since Stormalong Bay is a main attraction there.

Agree with this :-) What I love about DVC is being able to try different resorts and late January will likely be easier than usual to get into one of the smaller/popular resorts. I'd second VGF or CCV!

Congrats on your purchase & Welcome Home. :welcome:
SSR is our home resort, also, and we always go in January!
We live between Baltimore & Annapolis, and the primary reason for DVC was to help us escape Winter in the Mid-Atlantic.
We have had great luck with resort availability. We always book a placeholder ressie at SSR at 11-Mo., then at 7-Mo. we shop around.
We obtained 2 weeks at AKV in 2017, 1week in STU, 1week in 1BR, both with the Savana View!
We will be at SSR in Late Jan. of 2020 also (planning on the 3BR-GV, and bringing the whole family) :darth:

In late January and early February most studios are very easy to get, even at 7 months. You might not be able to get some of the cheapest categories of studios, but there will be studios available pretty much everywhere.

Having only 100 points will be your limiting factor. "Point Pricey" resorts like GF and Poly will be shorter stays than resorts with less expensive point costs (SSR and OKW). Remember that you can buy up to 24 one time use (OTU) points at the 7 month mark to augment your points. The current price for OTU points is $19 per point. It's a good option if you only occasionally need extra points. If you find you're using OTU points every trip, you'll probably want to do a small add-on to augment your original contract.
