hi everyone, need some help in what to do on our first day at dw. arriving around noon, magical express booked, we have 5 nights there and want to see as much as possible. staying at asm. suggestions greatly appreciated.

p.s. know any great eats in downtown disney?

Hi there! Is this your first trip to WDW? Everyone has a favorite thing to do on the first night. Depends on how tired you are... but, arriving at noon will be great for you. We love to hit MK... the girls can't wait to get there We have also had dinner and Illuminations at Epcot our first night. One of our favorite evenings was dinner at Ohana and watching Wishes on the beach at POLY... this was wonderful and very relaxing as well. Whatever you choose to do, it's all magical and unforgettable Have a great trip.... 40 days for us!

If you are looking for lunch upon arrival and plan on going to DD, then Earl Of Sandwich is a great place for a light lunch (sandwich style). Are you wanting to use a park pass the first day? If not there is a lot to see without using a ticket for a partial day, but if so then the WORLD is at your finger tips Need more info ie: children or no, etc. to offer more suggestions. Anyway here's to a magical trip!!!!

You didn't mention if you are interested in using a ticket that day to do a park. If not I would suggest first that you thoroughly check out DTD while you are there, then maybe visit the Boardwalk and check it out. I would also not overlook this opportunity to visit any resort that you may desire to see. If you are planning to take in a park, then I would suggest visiting whichever park you feel most attracted to, to sort of get a head start on that park and begin to see the things you have on your agenda.

Agree- if DTD is the destination Earl of Sandwich is a good choice. Our tradition is to hit MGM the first day, for no particular reason. Well maybe because we feel it's pretty compact and we can see a lot of things in a short amount of time.

Last trip we booked Chef Mickey's the first night, then took the monorail to the Poly and walked out on the beach to wach the electrical water parade and wishes from there. That was a magical beginning for us without using a park ticket. This time we are doing 1900 Park Fare (we have a little princess) but we are going to be in MK before and after. There's just something about seeing that castle . . . .

This is a great questions as many people have traditions and favorite things to do on the first day! First, it depends on whether you have length of stay park passess? If so, go to a park! If not, which we never get, we go to DTD to explore and get our disney feet wet. We'll check out our resort, swim and have a fun dining experince at Whispering Canyon Cafe, Chef Mickey's, Dinner Show or Ohana's.

We'll also watch Wishes and the Electrical Water parade from one of the MK resorts.

Last trip, I arrived at 11 at the resort. I went to lunch at DTD and did a little shopping. Then I had 5:30 ressies at Coral Reef at Epcot, so I wandered over there and did a few things, ate dinner and saw Illuminations. It was great! Next trip, we arrive at 7:30 pm, so will just eat a quick dinner at the resort and relax.

You still have the whole trip in front of you. We always use that first day to
"get the lay of the land" so to speak. We don't use a park pass, we walk around
the resort to see where everything is, we go to DTD and walk around. We
always get something to eat and buy some groceries to take back to the resort.
Sometimes we'll book one of the shows like HDDR or La Nouba. You will figure
it out and have a BLAST.

On our first day we hit the parks running. We are usually so excited we can't get there quick enough. The park we go to just depends on what day it is. We try to avoid the park that had the AM EMH, unless we are going for it...but by noon we are usally park hopping to a less crowded park if we do. Fireworks and shows seem to be easiest for us on our first night since we not as run down.

We love DTD! My kids usually want to eat at Planet Hollywood or Rainforest Cafe tho and we try to do one of those. There's always McDonalds... . We love the shopping. World of Disney is the best!

From the moment we arrive in Orlando, we are on a mission to get to that castle! We always head straight to MK ASAP just to get the whole trip started. Dinner at MK and as much Fantasyland as we can get (dds 5 & 7). This year they can stay up a little later so we plan on Spectromagic & Wishes on that first night. We figure we'll be the most rested then and way too excited to go to bed early!!

Whatever you choose to do, it will be amazing. That Disney Magic hits you wherever you are and you just can't help but have a great time!!

When we went for 5 nights we got to our hotel & checked in. Our room was ready so we went to drop off our luggage. Then we went to AK since it closes early & we can get to bed early for our full day the next day.

We hit a park the first day as soon as possible. We have a list of what we would like to see, but we keep our expectations very realistic knowing we are getting a late start in the day. This year we plan to go to Epcot our fist day. We love Epcot and there is so much to do. My thinking is that anything we can see that first afternoon will be great and such a help in making our second day at Epcot less stressful.
