Hey,

~The drama in high school is less than any drama in middle school. So don't try to cause any (I'm sure you won't ;)) and don't get worked up if drama does come your way.

~Get a map if your school has one. I had a map the first week of freshman year and I literally made a friend from it.

~Don't be afraid to try new things.

My advice would be to stay calm. If you get lost, ask a teacher. At my school they don't count tardiness for about the first week of school but that may just be mine.
Also, don't be afraid to talk to other kids you don't know. I'm really shy, so this was hard for me, but whether you are or not it will be worth it. A lot of kids are nicer than you'd think!

-Try and memorize your room numbers or the ways to your classrooms

-Don't cause trouble or drama, especially if you can help it

-Upperclassmen might call you "Fish", don't let it faze you or get offended, it's nothing personal.

-The library is a very helpful place.

-When it comes to clubs, organizations and other extracurriculars, do what you like, not what's "popular" or "cool".

-In fact, don't even try to popular or cool, just be you. Be who you are and say what you feel because the ones who mind don't matter, and the ones who matter don't mind. Dr. Seuss

I hope you have a great first day of high school! My first day is tomorrow too, except I'll be a senior. High school is so much better than middle school, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun. The only advice I can think of would probably be to steer clear of the upperclassmen. Forgot to add: make sure you know where you're going, I personally wouldn't carry a map around in the hallways because that's setting yourself up for snarky comments from upperclassmen. If you get lost, ask a teacher or a student who looks nice and older than you. My brother is going to be a freshman this year and I've made sure he knows where he's going, luckily both my brothers had me to show them how things work as a freshman... I had to figure it all out myself!

Good luck! High school goes by so fast, make sure you make it count

This are all really good tips! Some of mine are just a little bit different information.

*I typically don't remember room by the number but more my location and what's around it.
*I use the term "Fish" a lot. It's not an insult, just what most people call Freshmen.
*Being in a club or sport is the best and easiest way to make friends. You spent so much time with those people you bond.
*Teachers don't mind if you're late the first few days.
*Feel free to ask anyone with a friendly face for help. I would especially due upperclassmen because they know the school better and tend to like to help freshmen more.
*Test grades have a much bigger impact. Make sure to study and not procrastinate. (This is probably the hardest part of school for me. I will always do my homework but studying is hard for me to stay focused and/or motivated.)
*Bring you're lunch the first few days, as the cafeteria will be extra busy. Plus on the first day you get a better choice for a seat.
*My personal opinion is people are way less judgmental in High School. (Thank goodness!)
*Have a great time. High School is so much better than Middle School. You're attitude has a big impact.

Try to get involved, whether through clubs, sports, or organizations. It is the best way to meet new people and to be involved with your school! Good Luck :goodvibes

Thanks guys! My first day was great. I got my combination right the first try. I only got lost one time, my teachers are nice, and I'm pretty used to the school already!
