First date.

What does one do on a first date? Its been awile for both of us. I havent dated in almost 5 years. We plan on going to dinner but what do people do after dinner? What the heck do I wear?

Well, I havent found anyone worth dating. This guy and I have had crushes on each other since high school but were both too chicken to tell the other person so I ran into him at the fireworks last night and well, He kinda asked me out, well it was sorta the two of us asking each other at the same time LOL. Whatever we do we cant do alot of walking (both have bad knees). I know im wearing heels (hes 6 foot 2, Im five foot).

Well Im going out with him next sunday. Im gonna drive up to where he lives (2 hrs away) since his truck gets bad milage. He would just laugh at the signs but I wouldnt let him ANYWERE near my messy aparment right now. If I can get him someplace alone I may get a kiss LOL. Hes so against pda's.

We did dinner and a movie. Since it was a hot summer day I wore a some nice shirt and shorts.

He was so sweet on that date. We met at the restaurant since I was just starting dating and didn't want someone coming to my house that I didn't really know yet. When I pulled in the parking lot he wsa leaned up against his car. He held doors open for me. After the movie he asked if he could walk me to my car and asked if he could hold my hand. It was all so sweet. Then he asked for a good night kiss. That was it! Two years later on that same date, July 15th, we got married. Our first anniversary is coming up quickly!

For the record he does still open doors and all that good stuff. He just doesn't ask to hold my hand or kiss me anymore, he just goes for it now.

Naww hes from my hometown and I have a doctors apoiment up there anyways so it just worked out for us. He wants two kids, I want 3 LOL, we had that talk at the fireworks (we were watching my aunts kids at the time). Hes never held my hand, would pull away everytime I tried. ive never smiled this much or been so happy. Cant wait to show off the pics from the weekend to all my freinds tommrow.

Honestly, since you know the guy I wouldn't treat it like a first date. Technically it IS a first date, but you could get too nervous if you think of it in those terms. Since you two kind of have a history together it could make it a little easier.

What to wear: It depends on where you are going. I mean, if it is a place that is casual, a nice pair of jeans and a pretty shirt. However, if it is at a place that is slightly more formal, a nice pair of slacks or a skirt with a classy shirt. But you can never go wrong with a sundress.

Where to go: Dinner, of course but make it a little interesting, is there a a benihana-type resturant nearby or maybe something sweet like Italian food or something.

After dinner: I suggest not the movies, you don't get to really talk at those things, but maybe a walk? Or the bowling idea was a good one.

dinner will be perkins, its a small town, its either perkins or mc.donalds. Bowling could be fun. Im a bit competive though. Im not the nervious one, he is. It was comical how many ciggrettes he had to have to make it though a night with my family

skip movies. you don't talk at the movies. you just sit there silent for almost 2 hours. Save movies for when you're married, lol! Go someplace where there are lots of things to talk about-a zoo, a museum, a busy restaurant, a park, window shopping. What do you wear? What do you wear when you go out with your girlfriends? My girls and I all dress up to go out to dinner. That's what you wear. Comfortable shoes in case you take a walk.

Generally, guys ask you do X or Y with them, so you know what you're going to do. But not all. DH didn't. I remember him saying, "We could go to dinner. Or a movie. We could try to do both. If you want." I can still hear his voice saying it, tone and everything.

I really liked DH after I decided not to hate him (which I kinda did, at the very first), but I liked guys who had a plan. Didn't care for wishy-washy guys, which this whole, "...if you want..." thing seemed like. I remember thinking, "Oh, Lord. This is not going to work out." But it turned out that he was just nervous and ended up being a decent match.

Just play it by ear. And wear whatever you'd wear if you were doing this with friends or your mom.

Well, he knew my mom from when he was my neighbor (sorta) in highschool. We have awalys been friends but never really gone out. He just lost his job and flew back to spend the fourth with his mom but shes a cna and had to work at 9 so he ended up hanging out with me. I was on the island with my mom, aunt and her two kids, plus a family freind (male) and his daughter. It was alot of fun. Also its a small town, Ive never gone out with a guy who hasnt already spent a eveing hanging out with my family. Hes met my family and STILL wants to go out..... He must be nuts.

Sorry-this is a warning sign to me. A guy drives to get a girl on the first date. No matter what kind of vehicle they drive!

My DH actually had a minor wreck on the afternoon of our first date, He then got a ride to the town 20 miles away where his grandmother lived to borrow her car to take me out.

My bf & I had never met in person prior to our first date. We went to a local tourist area and walked around, went to some museums and had a nice casual lunch. The date lasted for probably 8 hours lol. It was very fun. I think I wore jeans, sandals and a dressy-ish black tank type shirt that ties around the neck. It was like, 95 out that day though. He wore jeans and a tshirt with a bunch of comic book characters on it.
