First Dance???

Did all of you intimate brides have your first dance at your ceremony or did you wait until your home reception. We are having a small wedding, but I still want to have that first dance, and father/daughter dance I've always imagined and think I would rather wait until our reception at home. Does this make sense or would it be weird because it will be 3 weeks later?

We're having our first dance at the reception. We're having our at home reception 2 weeks later, and I just think that it feels right for us to do it at Disney. Just my opinion though. We'll probably re-enact it later though. How many disers out there took dance lessons prior to the wedding? DF and I had planned on this months ago, but never got around to it. Now, we've rented dance videos from Blockbuster.com, and still haven't gotten around to doing it. So my question is, if you haven't really taken lessons, do you dance with one hand on his shoulder and the other in his hand? Or do you do the high school prom dance with your arms wrapped around his neck? I have no idea what to do! PLease help!

I say you dance whichever way feels right to you. For me, I will probably wrap my arms around my new hubby's neck and hold him close! we will not be having a home reception...so Disney it is for us (we probably would have done it there anyway!)

We didn't have a separate reception, so we did our first dance at the ceremony. If we had had a separate reception, I probably would have waited to do it there. In our case, we were on the lawn at the Yacht Club. It would've felt more formal to have it at the reception later.

And we definitely just did the swaying, my arms around his neck and his arms around my waist thing. Felt natural and matched the informal nature of the location. Hope that helps!
