We are going on our 1st ever cruise in March - 3 day Wonder with our DDs who are 8 and 4. Should we plan a shore excursion for Nassau? I haven't read favorable things about Nassau in general or about just getting off the boat and "exploring" without something planned. A friend suggested that since we are only on the 3 day and this is our first time on a cruise, we might want to just stay on the ship when it docks in Nassau and explore the ship instead. Did any first timers do that and regret not seeing Nassau? Does anyone have a suggestion for a simple, short, worthwhile shore excursion?

Thanks!

I didn't like going into Nassau. I DID like going to the aquarium at the Atlantis resort. It's themed to the lost city of Atlantis (it's called "The Dig"). It is well done! It is every bit as good as Sea World, it might be better than Sea World (except for SW's shows). The DCL excursion is several hours. Only you will know if your kids have the stamina and the interest in this type of excursion.

We have done a few things. We have stayed on the ship (nice with very few people left on), we have taken a catamaran snorkel excursion (not too bad...left from very close to the ship, not that long, kids loved it), and we have stayed on for most of the time and made a brief visit/shopping run to the town (walking distance - then right back on). Personally, I'm sort of over Nassau but some people have really loved their excursions.
