Very excited to say that we just got our first RV (well- kinda-sorta- actually my parents bought it to travel during the summer months- but said we can use it the rest of the time whenever we want to- so close enough- and plus it's free! ;) ) Anyway- while they are planning a trip out west for next year we went ahead and booked FW for our anniversary weekend next month. Staying in the 300 loop 9/23-9/26...I requested a pet-friendly loop since I'm not sure if we'll bring the new puppy along or not (Bichon)- she will be about 6mos old by then. She is house/crate trained and a good traveler- and we will probably spend a lot of time around the campground- but I still worry about the logistics of 1x puppy and 2x kids on our first run.

We are Disney regulars and stayed in a FW Cabin last year which we really enjoyed. Last weekend when we heard about all this we went over to FW and had dinner at Trails End- then drove around the campground in the evening just to get in the mood. Kids are 6 and 9 and we are camping amatures so any advice would be really appreciated. I'm hoping this is a good experience and we will soon be Fort regulars as well.

Awesome!

A free motorhome to use when ever you like?

Sweet!

And, those are some great photos, too!

Great photo of your DD with her American Girl doll. I have three daughters. And, approximately 20 or so American Girl dolls. Plus accessories.

Oy! That was a lot of money. Now they are all teens.

I wish they would still play with dolls.

But, that's another story.

Cute puppy!

Welcome to the camping boards.

Since you have already been to the Fort, I would say you don't need a whole lot of advice.

Just go and have fun!

And take a lot of photos!

And post a trip report!!!

Yeah- I could spend a nice week at the Fort for what we have spent on American Girl Dolls too. Thanks for the reply.

Welcome to the wonderful world of camping,:thumbsup2 and I might add a nice rig to camp in too,:thumbsup2

Ya'll are gonna hava great time, learn'n is half the fun.

my two pieces of advice is,

1. Make sure your wife KNOWS ALL THE HAND SIGNALS !!

2. Always pack a fishing pole, :woohoo:

Sweet!! An RV! Never rode one and hoping someday will own one. :lmao: Anyways, I don't have any camping suggestions as I haven't gone to one too, yeah, I know, poor me. :rotfl: Well, enjoy the trip! I just commented because I so love the photos you posted, especially the puppy, looks like a stuff toy. :)

I don't want to teach her any more hand signals- she gets in enough trouble with the one she already knows. ;)

LOL! Love it!!!

That's not just any American Girl doll - that's Lanie, the nature girl!!! The perfect camping companion for your cute DD. :cool2:

My dd has Lanie, too, and is begging for the $300 camper accessory which is NOT going to happen unless we win the lottery.

Congrats on your* RV!

Congrats! I'm sure you will love camping. We have only done tent camping but have had a wonderful time doing that, so I can only imagine how nice it would be to have a big rv like that. I love the relaxing, being in nature and sense of togetherness of our camping trips.

I hope you have a wonderful time. And this is OT but what kind of camera do you have- your pics are so clear and vibrantly colorful?

1 the cooler with beer goes in first, then wife, then kids then the dog if there is room
2 beware of the monster known as over packing
3 check that the beer cooler is still there
4 bikes are nice but not a must have
5 PLAN down days, just to hang and soak up all things FW.
6 a golf cart for a day is nice especially when coordinated with #5

I agree with planning a day just to spend at the Fort, and rent a cart for a day. It is just fun driving around in one!

Let us know how it goes.

Have fun!

We have some things in common. My parents, too, have a camper they allow us to use whenever we want. Only problem is they live 500+ miles away. They live in FL so we used it last year at the Fort and are returning to the Fort in 9 days with it again. We also camp at Hannah Park with them during the summer.

I also have a daughter that loves Amercan Girl dolls. Come to think of it, what we've spent on her dolls and accessories, we could have probably bought a nice used popup.

We'll arrive at the Fort on 9/25 and have requested the 1700 loop. Be sure to have your Mickey ears out so we can look for you!

Haaaaaa- thanks all. We roll in one week from today so we are very excited.

Kim- thanks- camera is a nikon d700

Ya might wanna warn her that the "California Howdy" is not acceptable at the Fort,:lmao:

Hey- we made it! AG Dolls and all. In the 200 loop. Ill do a TR later all I can post now is camera phone pics. Gotta go since the charcoal is ready. ;)

Oliva, I didn't realize that you will be there this weekend, we are coming in on 9/25 after work. Should be in the 1700 loop also, I will look for your ears, mine will be on my windshield (unless my DH finds me some of the wire things to put it in the ground) hope to see you.

Oh boy, that's a lot of American Girl dolls!

Thanks for posting a couple of photos.

Have a great time.

I'd love to hear all about it when you get back.

Rainy afernoon at the fort- two cranky kids who swore they were not tired both fell asleep in about 30 seconds.

Ah, so that's what AG dolls look like. (All we've got around here is stinky football gear.) I like the little green dress! Too bad it's not in my size...

Hope you have a fantastic trip! Can't wait to see more pix...
