Well I made reservations this morning for two nights in December... I booked the kid suite at 277.00/nt using the Fan Club card... There were no entertainment rates out yet, and the Bay View room was 196.00/night

Are these good rates? Now I have to figure out what we want for tickets, we have 2 adults & 2 children ages 4 & 6 Any suggestions?

How much time should we devote to the Universal theme parks?

One last comment.. How is it that a 4.5 star hotel does NOT have a concierge level???

Those are excellent rates...the villa rooms and suites used to have concierge service...now...there is butler services...this is an additional cost...you get similar perks like on concierge...the butler is at your beck and call.

Yes, those are very nice rates!
With 2 nites stay there, you'll have 3 days worth of FOTL privilege. I would recommend the multi-day pass for sure. Spend one leisurely day in each park, and either save the 3rd day for future use (they don't expire), or catch your favorite rides one more time.
You'll love Dec. at UO!

Hi Chris,

1. Good price, almost 40% off rack rates.

2. That depends. I like 3day multi-day passes. But a 2 day pass is fine since you'll have front of the line priveledges because you're staying at the PBH. Don't forget, unused days on your passes never expire and the price is not much higher from 2 to 3day passes.

3. You should be able to see everything you want (notice I didn't say everything!LOL!) in 2 days.

4. Unknown.

If it's "swim" weather when you're there be sure to bring towels and a change of clothing for your kids. There are opportunities for the kids to get wet at both parks but the BEST place for young kids is the Woody Woodpecker kidzone in Universal Studios. In this area is Curious George wet play area, a dry ball area in back , ET: the ride, Fievels water slide (also has a fun non-wet area), the Barney show, Barney's backyard (a GREAT interactive indoor educational play area located between the Barney Giftshop and the area for the Barney show. Go to BBY while a Barney show is in progress and you'll have the place to yourself. If you go after the show it's a madhouse!), and last is some kind of kids show. It's used to be the Animal actors show but has been replaced by something else.

At IOA your kids will want to spend alot of time at Seuss landing. Be sure to go down by the lagoon to see "Sneetch Beach" and the Zax. Also, as you enter Seuss Landing there a little pool with "fish", looking for the one talking and have your kids lean over and through in a coin. Surprise! He's the fish that looks like the one in "Cat in the Hat". Another neat liittle "off the path place" is Horton's egg. Good photo-op. It should be on the map.

Sorry so long. My kids had so much fun there I get carried away! Have fun!!:pinkbounc :bounce:

Thanks Everyone!! Now I just have to decide if we should stay in the kid suite or the standard Bay room, what do you all think? And what is the difference between PBH & HRH? Which would be nicer for the kids? Or does it matter?

Thanks again, I think we'll have a lot of fun!

Hi!

We have stayed in a a kidssuite at PBH - Room 3451 .
This room overlooks the water and you can see when the ferry is coming and you can actually leave your room and be there in time (provided you are carrying the little ones!) The view was beautiful at night. The kids room had a "castle theme" done in royal purple, green, red and yellow; murals on the walls and the headboards were crowns. It was adorable for the kids - beleive me, my kids are a little too old for cute and adorable (15 and 10) still thought it cool - their own tv, stereo and nintendo (fee). They had huge closets and 2 sets of drawers for them with a little vanity with a crowned seat.

The master br was a standard size room with king bed and lots of space! The bathroom is HUGE! double sinks and room for the whole family at once LOL.

However, with 2 little ones, you would also be comfortable in a standard room - about the size of the POLY or maybe a little bigger. That rate is a great rate! It depends, if you want privacy, then get the kids suite - if not, then choose one room. It was nice for us, because the kids loved having their own room and were pleased to just hang out in there and it was nice for us to have 'wind down' time!

We will be there the beginning of July for 4 nites at the HRH - kids suite - love those kids suites. I will compare and report when I return.

Hope this helps. Have a fabulous time.

Thanks Pixie Dust Gal!!! What a description you gave! But you made it even harder, I think I might have to try that Kidsuite!! It sounds great... But the standard room would probably be just fine.... But the Kidsuite.... Hmmm.. I'll try it!

The kids suite sounds attractive to me ... with a great rate like that, I would find it hard to pass up. With a kids suite, you can put the little ones to bed in their own room and still be awake watching tv/reading with the door open in between. I find a standard room gets tough during bedtime (and naptime since mine are still of the napping age).

I'm jealous... have fun!

I'm pretty sure Pixie Dust Gal and I stayed in the same Kidsuite at PBH. Her description is right on the money. DH and I don't go to sleep until hours after our kids (ages 5+10) so it was worth it to have the kidsuite.

For a truly magical vacation... GET the KIDS SUITE! We stayed in two rooms last time because they were sold out of the kids suite, and we really missed it.
