chidlren's tylenol
imodium ad
neosporin
hydrocortisone
benedryl gel
dermoplast
bandaids
alcohol wipes

am i forgetting something? thank you in advance!! :flower:

What you really need are the things specific to his situation--like the epipens and benadryl. Little things like bandaids are available in the medical center at no cost and also in the gift shops.

Sounds like you've covered the necessities.

Chewable Dramamine ( I swear by that stuff - first feeling of wishy washy - we take them and ta da - no more wishy washy)

LOL - Hubby just said - tell her to add - PeptoBismol ( very expensive onboard - and with all the rich foods HE needed it)

Just remember that Pepto is an adult medicine, only. The active ingredient is a cousin to aspirin and should not be used in children with viral infections(which most stomach bugs are) due to the very rare, but extremely dangerous risk of Reye's syndrome.

Don't forget Tylenol Cold for Children/Advil children's cold, something like that. With all the kids around, hopefully you don't run across it, but we did, and I was glad I had it packed. BTW, did you inform DCL re: son's peanut allergies? I heard they were very accomodating with food allergies, especially peanut allergies. Have a great cruise. :cool1:

thank you everyone!! and yes, i did get that medical form and faxed it back to dcl regarding my DS6's peanut allergy! it's so good to know that there are so many helpful people out there! again, thank you!! :flower:

I put powder pedisure in my bag, just in case your child gets dehydrated from (well you know what). I also put a thermometer.

My DS is allergic to wheat, soy & milk. Our wait staff was very accommodating. They had rice milk at dinner and always had fresh fruit cut up for him in the morning.

We just got back from California, had a BLAST, it's so much fun!

I'm jealous, I want to go back!

ENJOY

Joanne, you read my mind!!!! I don't know how it works, but it does!! You put the sticky part right over the "boo boo" and it is like it never was there!

OMG!! I swear by moleskin!! I'm taking something like 3 rolls of the stuff on the repo cruise!!!

Solarcaine. No matter how well you sunblock, someone in the family (usually an adult) is going to end up woth sunburn. Solarciane is very expensive onboard.

Insect repellant, especially if going to the Western Caribbean. You can also get sunscreen that has insect repellant in it through Avon. Works pretty well and doesn't leave you greasy and stinky like other repellants. Solarcaine is also a great addition, as the previous poster pointed out. The sun is way more intense in the Caribbean than even in Florida. It is easy to get burned.

my recommendations...I have 3 kids and never travel w/o the following:

tums...kids can't take pepto, but they can take tums!

papaya tablets...for when the tums isn't enough. All natural...help the problem and you can take as many as you want!

not just alcohol wipes, but some liquid antiseptic or antiseptic wipes. Alcohol would really hurt if you wanted to clean out a boo boo.

lip balm with sunscreen. Believe it or not, this even came in invaluable in England in February! We were outside so much, and even on an overcast day you can get sunburned. The lips and eyelids are often areas that get overlooked, but boy do they hurt if they get sunburned!

also...keep your aloe gel/solarcane in the cooling box. It's amazing how good it feels on a sunburn when it's cold!
happy sailing!

Moleskin and small scissors in case you start to get a blister. This is the best stuff in the world.

Joanne :earsgirl:

what is "moleskin", and what's it for? blisters? or maybe the scissors were for the blisters, and moleskin for something else?? please explain...thank you!! do you get that like at sav-on's? :flower:

Moleskin is a padded, soft type tape. I've seen it applied to the skin and I've seen it applied to whatever is rubbing the skin i.e. inside of shoe, part of a brace, cast, etc. It prevents rubbing, blistering, etc. You can buy it anywhere...Walmart pharmacy area, any pharmacy or store with pharmacy type products should carry it. Scissors are just for cutting the moleskin, no surgery please!

We don't have children, but I still pack a first aid kit. I also include cough drops. Sometimes the in-and-out between sunny weather and a/c can aggrevate my allergies. I'll second the Avon Skin So Soft Bug Guard.

Although it isn't really first aid for people, it can be considered first aid for clothes. :) I take a very small travel sewing kit (they have them at Target in the Dollar Spot).

Have a great time!
