Fireworks viewing from 4th floor Contemporary

I have a garden view room booked at the Contemporary in 2 weeks. I have not been able to get a reservation as the California Grill. Does anyone know if the 4th floor public viewing area has been open for fireworks viewing? Also it's two of us, any chance we could do bar seating at the California Grill? Thanks

Yes, bar seating is available at CG. They have limited positions, roughly around 12’ish spots with the current spacing (don’t quote me exactly, I’m estimating). We’ve had some great luck arriving around 4:45’ish and adding our name to the bar seating list and are usually seated shortly after opening. I don’t know what wait conditions are like later in the evening since we’ve always tried to hit it early.

I will also say, definitely give the “join walk-up list” option in the app a try. That’s only for a regular table, not the bar - but we tried around 6’ish in mid July and were seated after just a few minutes (party of 2, any larger parties said the wait list was full). The online walk up list experience can be variable, but worth a shot.

As for the 4th floor viewing area - when we were there mid-July it was open and seemed quite popular each night (we were at BLT so could see that area during fireworks). There was a work area fenced off sort of in the middle of that area, but it still left ample space for viewing.

We were there Sept 30 - Oct 5 and the 4th floor area was open for use. You can also climb up the stairs on the fire exits and get a view from higher up if you want or if the 4th floor area is crowded.
