It's been years since we went and watched...I think it was "remember" fireworks. Is it the same still? Is it a show where you want to sit in a particular place for optimum viewing of the projections on the castle? Where is a good place to enjoy (and I'm not good on the ground) I also have a 7 year old with me.
Any tips/help would be appreciated :)

The fireworks show varies depending on when you go. The standard fireworks show is still Remember...Dream Come True. During the summer (usually early May until after Labor Day or thereabout) they present Magical. During the Mickey's Halloween Party, they present Halloween Screams. From about mid-November through New Years, they present Believe in Holiday Magic. There are indications that next year they will have a new fireworks show for the 60th anniversary; it would likely start in the spring, so next year's schedule might be different.

In terms of viewing, I like to watch from the end of Main Street. The most prime viewing location is between the Partners Statue and the Castle, but that can start filling up hours before the show starts. With a child, it's going to be hard to find a spot where they can see the projections without waiting a long time. I'm not a tall adult and usually I can only see the top of the castle, unless I get lucky and the people in front of me are spaced nicely.

I think the best viewing area is just south of the hub. If you are between the castle and the hub it is too close to the caste. Anywhere from Main St. is good, as long as you are centered.

Just as figment said that there will be different fireworks depends on the season. RDCT plays during January till April and also goes from September (after Labor Day to October (on non-party nights which is mostly Saturday and Sunday). There are rumors that a new firework show might be happening during DL 60th Anniversary and it could change for next year.

As for the best spot to watch the fireworks and to be able to view the projections on SB Castle is between the Castle and Partners Statue. It also depends on how long you are willing to stake out a spot for the fireworks. I have seen people wait as long as 3+ hours for a spot between the Hub and Castle. There are times when you can get a spot with one hour to go until the fireworks but that is on the street where it can get difficult to see with tall people in the area. The spots that people like are the curb side right close to the Hub which gives you a little extra height to watch the fireworks. The CM's will tell the guests that they have to stand up for the fireworks.
