I have never seen the fireworks from the hub so I hope someone can share the best way to go about getting a good viewing location there. The day will be a Sunday in early May and I will be with my DD, DSIL, and DGS-8 yr and DGS-5 yr. I have no problem getting there 1+ hour early and people watching or reading but it would be difficult to wait that long for the very active grandsons. I was hoping they could explore the magic shop, arcade, get a treat, etc. and come back to where I am 20 minutes before the show. Are the fireworks like Fantasmic, where you can sit down and save a family spot with a small blanket or towel? I know you have to stand for the fireworks, but assume it is OK to sit on the ground until closer to show time - yes/no? What do other families do? I appreciate your help and suggestions.

Yes you can stake out a spot. An hour early is really abitious. 45 or even 30 minutes early may work for a good spot.

Make sure you can cleary see the Castle and top of the Matterhorn. Be aware of trees and lighting towers.

I could have written this myself. I agree 100%. :)

Thanks Skiingfast and Hydroguy for the information. For the purposes of Fireworks viewing, does 'hub' include the street circle around the tiled Partners Statue area? Is the castle forecourt area with the compass closed during fireworks?

you say to make sure u see the top of the matterhorn and castle, where in the park do they actually set the fireworks off from?

They shoot some off from the roof of the castle itself, however most are shot from backstage with the Castle serving as the center point. Depending on the time of year and the fireworks show they are showing, the Matterhorn is also used. If you haven't seen the show, I won't spoil it for you.

The OP is asking about May, when RDCT runs and the fireworks are pretty well split from being shots back stage and just off the hub. That's why I mentioned the Matterhorn. It is a great show, and likewise I don't want to give too many details and spoil it as well.

Correct, the hub is an informal name for the Plaza that is in the center of the lands with the Partners Statue in the middle.

The area directly in front of the castle (the forecourt)is closed I believe front row is just behind the curb.

The partners statue area is mostly open, however they create a walkway for people just passing through. Cast members are always around you can ask them where you can and can not stand. There are a lot of trees in this area so make sure you take that into account before selecting your location.

It also maybe a good idea to know what you want to do right after the fireworks. It is a mess trying to move around after the show especially if you are on the tomorrowland side of the hub and try to get to frontierland after the show.
