Hi! I am so excited! We leave for DL in a week! We will be there April 29 and 30. We will plan on doing the fireworks on Sunday. Where is a good place for us to watch them? I have 5 yr old twins. And how soon do I need to get a good place? I don't have preferred seating, btw...

Also, while I am camped out for a good spot for the fireworks, can we watch the parade from there??

do you think that April 29 and 30 will be packed? I was hoping that I missed the spring breakers...

TIA!!! :hippie:

Also, I wanted to ask if the firework show really loud. One of my girls have pretty sensitive ears... Any problems??

Hello I am guessing you mean wishes at the Magic Kingdom. If so the best place to see it is on main steet with the castle in the back ground. If there are two parades you can set down after the fireworks on main street. If they are only having the one spectro magic parade then it will be start about an hour before the fire works and I am not sure on the best spot for that because we always wait till the night they have two.

There is music that goes with the wishes fireworks so they are not that loud but illuminations at Epcot is very loud. Have a great time.:goodvibes

No, charlie's not talking in WDW (Florida), he is talking DL (California).

Sorry charlie - I am just now planning my first trip, so I can't help - I just didn't want you to be confussed by that response.

I keep hearing to watch them from the Hub. I really haven't figured out what that is or where, but that is what everyone says on this board.

I just make notes & tell myself that I will figure it out when we get there so I don't look so stupid on here.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ok Charlie and Abby's Mom,

The Hub is the center circle at the end of Main Street where the partners statue is. It is directly in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle, and all lands spoke out (like a wagon wheel) from the hub.

The best place to watch the fireworks is from somewhere around the hub area. I have sat directly in front of the castle on the cement (roped off sitting area) and felt a bit too close. I have watched from in the hub circle itself and thought it was better. Also watched from mid-Main Street (not bad), and the first tier of the stairs going up to the Train Station on Main Street (also, not bad, but you miss the projections on the castle and matterhorn).

Here's a link to a pic of the hub:

HTH!

Great advice!

How long should I park myself in a decent place? It is a Sunday, and I am hoping that it won't be too crowded...

Thanks DangerMouse - Sometimes you just need to see it to know what they mean. I thought (now this will show my stupidity here) that the Hub was maybe a restaurant & you should watch it from there.:rotfl: (yes you can laugh with me, because I am laughing now that I know)

Have fun Charlie!

For a prime seat (bench) in the hub, some crazies will wait 2-3 hours. I'd say you should be able to get a spot on the sidewalk/cement 45 minutes to an hour before. Enjoy the show! :thumbsup2

Those benches are so un-comfy to me! I plop myself down on Mainstreet about an hour before the start.

I know the old parade there was a certain place to sit so you could catch the float "activating" and the song/dance routines. It's a different parade now, but I find myself wondering if it still applies that we should be in a certain spot to catch the best parade bits!

Thanks all

We'll be there the same dates btw, and I find myself wondering how bad the crowds will be with the food and wine thing going on at DCA that weekend!

T

From what I am reading it sound like people sit for the fireworks? Is this correct? Is it ok to stand?? Just wondering. . . we are used to standing for them at MK. . .

There is a roped off area directly in front of the castle. This is the only spot where you are allowed to sit. Other than in that particular area, the CM's will tell everyone to stand up right before the show starts.

Not allowed to sit on the curb on Main Street anymore to watch the parade??

EEP!

heheheh. Sorry. I've never done a parade where you don't just sit where you are *immediately* and watch.

Fireworks are standing only now. You can sit for most of your wait, but 15 minutews before the show (at 9:10) they make everyone stand up now. The sitting area is gone and everyone is in the street or hub area.

This worked to our advantage Friday night. We saw the ELP at DCA and the hustled over in hopes of catching part of the fireworks. We made it into DL at about 9:20 and squeezed into an open spot behind the ropes by the Corner Cafe right at 9:23. I was so thrilled that we made it! We didn't actually have to run, but we certainly speed-walked. I had kids 7 and 10 in tow, and we made it! The show was spectacular!

I'm glad we did it this way. We were so tired the next night that we went to the hotel (Embassy Suites south) at about 8pm and then rested and watched the fireworks from our room. Certainly not as impressive as being there, but much more restful since we already saw them.

Hooray! I'm so glad you did this. I keep telling people it can be done, but most people doubt! IT CAN BE DONE!! Now there are two of us to prove it! :cool1: :cool1:

Yes, thank you, DangerMouse! You were my inspiration! :worship:

We had actually shifted our travel plans so that we could watch each on a separate night, but I was concerned about possible cancellation. It ended up working out great.

I agree Hub is best. Last year in July we showed up maybe a half hour before they started and found a good place to stand. Since everyone is standing it opens up some room for others, without ruining anyones views. If you really want to make sure and get a spot, I'd say an hour at most. I'd never sit there for 2-3 hours!!

We watched the ELP once and rushed over for the second show of Fantasmic! one year. Made it in plenty of time and got front seating! That was awesome!
