Fireworks Show - EPCOT Forever

First….I know this should technically be on the theme parks board, but you are my people so mods please keep this here if possible - thanks

DD19 just informed me yesterday that next year Harmonious is leaving and EPCOT Forever is returning. From what I read about EPCOT Forever is that it’s kind of a generic fireworks show just to fill in the gap of transitioning between big shows (Illuminstions to Harmonious and now Harmonious to whatever’s next).

So I am asking to those who have seen EPCOT Forever……
*What is your opinion of this show?
*Is it worth sticking around to watch, or should we leave to go back to the MK to watch the Happily Ever After fireworks show again/second time (DD19 is very very excited about seeing this fireworks in person since she’s only watched it on YouTube).

My main reason for asking is to justify me buying park hopper tickets for our mother-daughter trip in June. I originally wasn’t going to buy them to save a few bucks, but I’m willing to buy them if needed.

Any thoughts about this will be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Happily Ever After, the show itself as we knew it, is not returning. They are doing a new, updated, fireworks show and incorporating HEA the song.

As far as EPCOT Forever, we don't know how they will reincarnate that show. I thought it wasn't good, but after seeing Harmonious, it made me appreciate EPCOT Forever more. I don't think anything can replace Illuminations and I hope whatever new show they come up with leans more towards Illuminations than Harmonious.

I've been a AP for 25 years, so I've never considered the price of park hopping, but I wouldn't pay more to see either show specifically.

I watched the livestream of Epcot Forever the night after the livestream of the last Illuminations. It was a huge disappointment when directly compared to Illuminations.

I would love if the new show at Epcot used the Illuminations music with updated visuals. That would be perfection, IMO.

I think the whole Harmonious show is a huge bust. The barges are an eyesore and the whole show is nowhere near as good as they built it up to be. I’d rather watch Epcot Forever. I love the Happily Ever After music so look forward to a revised show using it.

We're big Disney parks fans, but fireworks are always optional for us. Honestly, if we're getting up super early to do rope-drop, we're done for the day by dinner time.

We have seen WDW fireworks many times, but I can't say we're overwhelmingly in favor of one show over the other, they all look good to us.

As to the park hopper part of the equation, we're big fans, I don't know if we've ever not had park hoppers.

I liked EPCOT Forever. It's a straight-up fireworks show. I think it's cool in particular because it uses arrangements of original EPCOT songs that I know by heart from when I was a kid.

I enjoyed Epcot Forever. I didn't find it as good as Harmonious, which is truly fantastic, but it wasn't supposed to be. If you go in expecting that it is a "filler" show, which it is, it is enjoyable. I do find both shows to be better than Illuminations.
HEA was definitely better than Epcot Forever, but it is unknown what the new updated show will look like, so it is impossible to compare right now.

I couldn’t agree more - I love love love the music from Illuminations.

I also love the music from Tapestry of Nations - I wish they would return that parade.

The CD I have with both on it is one of my absolute favorites

I was very surprised that Harmonious is going away, after all the work and destroying the looks of the lagoon that they did. Maybe they'll take those ugly barges out now. I've never seen Epcot FOREVER or Harmonious. Looks like I'd better hurry to see Harmonious.

We really like harmonious. That said, even if we didn’t like harmonious I don’t think the barges are going anywhere. I think the new show (after Epcot Forever if that comes back) will essentially be Harmonious 2.0. May be a different theme, will definitely be a different soundtrack, but using the same show mechanisms that they spent millions of dollars on. I can see the new show coming in for the 100th celebration and then going back to Harmonious when that’s over.

I enjoyed most of Epcot Forever, although I did not like using A Whole New World at the end, since it didn’t fit in with the other retro Epcot music, and I remember a part where they had children singing that got on my nerves. I wouldn’t spend extra money to see it, but if you are in Epcot, it’s worth a look. Nothing will top Illuminations in my book. It was perfection. *chef’s kiss*
