So WHERE exactly is the best place to sit for the fireworks where I won't have to stand and look over people? (I'm short and would prefer to sit) And how long ahead should I get to said spot in order to not fight people off for it :lovestruc Thanks!

I've been able to sit right infront of the castle before, but I don't know if it's always a "seating only" area or if it occasionally becomes a "standing only" area.

You could watch it back in the Small World area...not the same as seeing it from in front of the castle, but they traditionally seem to keep people seated for it, whereas with the castle viewing you do need to stand.

I'd agree you can sit at Small World, they do an animation on the attraction that's different from the castle one. They incorporate animations from the movies that go along with the music.

I'd also recommend go by Pirates, especially now before Fantasmic comes back you can sit and see the fireworks from there as well.

I too am pretty short and can't see plus I have BAD plantar fasciitis so by the end of the day my feet kill! We look for benches where there is also back support (and usually no one is behind you either!) We camp out on one of the green benches in front of the castle (by the Walt's statue but facing the castle). We alternate sitting there...one of us takes our little monkey on nearby rides then they come back and we switch. My little guy won't sit and wait for anything....not even awesome fireworks! We usually get there about 7:30 ish. We just plant it when we see crowds start to form. The people watching is excellent!

I have always wondered if you can stay sitting on the bench during the fireworks? or do they remove the benches? Thanks.

We were there Friday & Saturday for the fireworks, and the people were able to stay seated on the benches. However, everyone else stood, so I don't know if their vision was blocked. I was too busy enjoying the fireworks to notice.

They don't remove the benches. In fact, it's a really great spot because sometimes you either get tall people directly in front of you OR strollers that obstruct your view.....if and when that happens, you can sit on the back of the benches and have a clear view. Most of the benches back up against the shrubbery in that circle and therefore no one is behind you (so that you don't obstruct anyone else's view either!) Sometimes we even plant it where there is a garbage can so that we can lean on it to camrecord! (is that even a word?)

Thanks for the info! We usually meet various relatives when we go down to DLR. Many are older and do not really enjoy sitting on the ground. I will have to try to snag one of the benches next time we go. :) I love the fireworks and always hate to miss them.

When we were there 2 weeks ago the benches were always full from about 6 pm on or so. We camped out on the edge of the sidewalk so we could have a seat while we waited for the fireworks to start. We alternated going on rides and got dinner. We didn't stand until right before the fireworks started. But, no back rests - unless you brought a stadium chair. It was hard to sit on the ground, but better than standing or not getting a good spot. Unfortunately, after waiting for a couple of hours - which we have NEVER done before - our two little boys fell asleep minutes before the fireworks started. And then, the fireworks were cancelled half way through due to high winds. We were very disappointed, especially since we had waited soooooooooo long to see them. :sad1:

DS 12 and I went the next night (Wed.) and saw them, but we were a little left of the castle and had some trees blocking our view. When the crowd stands up (after sitting for so long) there is usually some room to move around and we were able to angle ourselves for a little better view. The fireworks were even better than I thought they would be, it was worth the wait and we would do it again.

Does anyone know what the deal is with Tink? :tinker: She flew the first night we saw the fireworks (from a VERY bad spot) and then didn't fly any of the other nights we were there. We were there from Mem. Day til the following Thurs. afternoon.

If I want to sit and not fight huge crowds of people I go back by Small World. As Bumbershoot said, its not the most ideal place for some of the affects but the trade off is plenty of benches to sit on and far fewer people to deal with! And the projections are very cool (not sure if Magical has those like Remember does). I like to see them once by the castle and then after that, I go back by IASW.
