I'm actually planning 2 trips right now, one in the beginning of December, then a really short one at the end of Jan for my son's 5th birthday.

My son loves fireworks, but I see to recall that last year they only had fireworks on weekend nights (Fri/Sat/Sun.) Can anyone confirm if this is the general schedule in Jan/Feb? I'm starting to look at flights, and if it looks like it's only going to be weekend showings, we'll come out on the Sunday rather than the Monday.

TIA!

At this point, no one really knows what the schedule for January 2016 will look like. Normally DL only presents fireworks on weekends in January after the Holiday season ends (fireworks are nightly during the Holiday season, slated to end on January 6, 2016). That being said, fireworks are normally only presented on weekends (and during MHP) from Labor Day through the start of the holiday season (in mid-November). This year, the presented fireworks nightly during that period (probably because Disneyland Forever is new and very popular). So, while it would make sense to drop back to weekend only presentations in January 2016, it's too early at this point to know if that's what will happen or not.

Sorry, I got caught up at work and didn't see this. That's actually super helpful. So there's a *possibility* that they'll be running every night. Good to know! I think they post it 60 days out like they do with other events?

Things like entertainment are usually posted closer to the day (somewhere between a week and a month is pretty typical). The operating calendar is posted at the 45-day mark (dining reservations open at the 60-day mark), but even when the operating calendar is posted, it's often incomplete. My inclination is to say that I don't think fireworks will be presented nightly in January (except prior to the end of the Holiday season), but given the popularity and crowds associated with the 60th anniversary, anything is possible at this point.
