Hello all,
My last night at DLR in october is a party night and we don't plan to get party tickets. Are there any places we would be able to view the fireworks in DCA or the surrounding areas? One of our favorite experiences in WDW is watching from the california grill. I know there aren't experiences quite like that at DLR but is there a hotel or something nearby with any kind of view? (i know fireworks might be cancelled due to weather that time of year)

Bonus points if the view is from a bar/restaurant or somewhere in DCA.

Thanks!

Alot of people watch the fire works from the plaza / esplanade area between DCA and the Main Park. Another place I have heard about is the top level of Micky and Friends parking structure. Desert Inn and Suites Motel on Harbour Boulevard have a rooftop viewing area.

Also I was in Disneyland last week and had a dining package for the first Fantasmic show. After the show there wee announcements to stay in your spot for the fireworks. While its not the same as being in the hub in front of the castle, its about the next best place to be. The showed the animations on the Fantasmic water fountains and the sound through the Fantasmic speakers and the fireworks were in the background

That's our plan for sunday!! But i'm too used to WDW's nightly fireworks, i'd love to watch some on tuesday also

F! will not be shown on MHP nights, so while that option to view fireworks after the first F! is fun, it won't work in the OP's situation. However, if dining and viewing fireworks is the preferred option, then there actually are a few choices at DLR, provided that the timing is right and that the fireworks don't get cancelled. Try viewing the show from the balcony at CCR, from the balony or from the inside by the large windows at Catal, from the outside tables at the Jazz Kitchen Express, and maybe from the patio at La Brea Bakery if people don't stand in front of your table.
Without dining, fireworks can be seen from the esplanade, from BVS in DCA, from outside Cars Land, from in front of La Brea Bakery by the fountain, from between Tortilla Jo's and Splitsville in DTD, and from the top level of M&F (but it can get noisy there from all the car alarms going off).

Way more options than i thought!! i was expecting there to be more vertical obstacles. The menu at CCR looks right up our alley. Is it hard to get a balcony seat? or does everyone there go out on the balcony to watch like at California Grill?

The problem with CCR, as with all TS restaurants at DLR, is that you can request a certain table or location, but you will be told that your request cannot be guaranteed. Usually, we do indeed get our request or something close to it, but not every single time. So try to time your reservation with enough flexibility so that you can wait for a table in your desired location if need be. Ask for the location you want at check in and explain that you are willing to wait if you have to.

Another option is the rooftop bar at the Grand Legacy lodging called "The Fifth."

Here is a link to some pictures.

Can anyone use PPH 3rd floor pool deck? We watch from there and the music is playing and everything, we have been guests at the hotel but didn't know if that was open to the public?

Just want to note while you’ll be able to see the fireworks from these locations none of them (to my knowledge) have the soundtrack audio.

I miss the days when you could watch/enjoy the fireworks from just about anywhere in the park. Now it's you and 30,000 of your closest friends on Main Street.

That looks cool! and the prices are comparable to CCR. Do you know how crucial reservations are or could we just show up that day? It's a tuesday if that makes a difference

I'm not sure. You might want to call and check with them: The Fifth 1 (714) 772-0899.

Also, Paradise Pier is another good suggestion. You might want to call them about ordering poolside and watching the fireworks from up there. Note that the area to watch the fireworks isn't that big. I was up there years ago and thought it was a good spot, but not sure how many people who are staying at the hotel would be there, too. PPH: 1 (714) 999-0990

This is true and worth noting, but easily remedied thanks to the convenience of YouTube. We've had videos bookmarked and ready to go, so that friends could listen to the soundtrack as they watched from the balcony at Catal. While the syncing may not be perfect to the second, it has usually been close enough to give everyone a good enough idea of what was going on inside the park.
