Fireworks is most likely out of the question today...

So, I believe I'm rather good at Fireworks... I usually get Flawless, with the usual Awesome here and there.

After the first round of Fantasyland, I had to quit the game: it was quite ridiculous.

Guess which place I was in for a score of 140? Yeah? 17th!

Quite distraught really that the Fun Days bring out the worst in games... Haunted Mansion is rather good for Fun Days, as it is generally easy to move around and suck up ghosts: you'll get credits anyway.

But a game like Fireworks has always been surrounded with controversy: it's a game for the super-good players. New players or players with bad internet should just try something else. That is always the vibe I get from that game. I'm actually quite happy that they editted Remixed so that the payoff isn't as big as it used to be. All the games should have about the same payoff... there shouldn't be one game that pays nearly 1000 credits for every bout.

Fireworks is the only game where you get kicked out for being worse than other players. And with some people being "Fireworks Experts," that is not a hard feat.

I totally understand how you feel, however "fireworks experts" didn't get there for free. I myself consider myself decent at the game, my best score is well over 6,000, but this is also after playing OVER 400 games of the old fireworks, and about 50 of thos one. I was only able to get 272,000 point in the old fireworks, and please don't take this wrong. I myself feel extremely bad on someone who had a close score to me, but didn't quite make it through, because I know how many times this has happened to me.

My only suggestions would be to practice a LOT and read over stichers' guide as many times as possible. At the mean time, I wouldn't suggest doing much on the "fun days".

I don't know, I abosolutely can't stand fireworks and I mostly get barely to the the last level, today i did just a little worse and got out on level 4. The better players definitely do dominate on Fun Days.

Oh, I don't have a problem with the skills: over the course of playing VMK since last March, I went from scoring a little below 200,000 to getting as near to 240,000 as possible without actually going over. I know the timing when it comes to getting Flawless, and that's half the battle.

I just disagree with Fireworks being given a "Double Day" when it makes more credits than the other games. Like, how about giving a Fun Day to Pirates? pirate:

I would MUCH rather they double the credits given on the game that gives the highest credits!!! This makes the best sense for credit-pumping.

My only problem with today is the terrible lag. :( I know you all think I have a high enough score as it is, but to me -- I am still struggling to get my scores up in the top ten at night again. It's so frustrating that I can get as high a score as I have and then the next game I will score 2,000 points less. And it doesn't make me feel good to have QA_CaffDawg tell me that she no longer sees me on the high score list -- that I used to be there all the time. "What happened," she asks... I don't know! LOL At least I am thankful for those games where I know I have done my personal best. But today I have been quitting way too many games due to lag. I have never quite seen my cursor move so slowly across my screen! :rotfl:

*Wishing to never hit an awesome again...*

Personally I'm glad for the Fireworks being double credits. It's the only game I'm decent at...I always get horrible lags with POTC and HM, so it wouldn't matter to me if those were double credits or not...I'm still not going to score that much on it. At least with fireworks, I have a chance to actually get some credits.

I generally leave a game of fireworks if my score after level 1 stage 1 is less than 300 points. I left about 3 games today because of that reason, but I played over 10 more, was in first place in about 7 or more of them, and got thrown back to the lobby during level four or five EVERY time. I did not get one stinking credit from that game today. And I was looking forward to today, too. :(

Now I'm stuck at work, so my VMK playing is over for the day.

Im another "fireworks hater" - I am not bad, and I can say to the person who has played 450 so games... I got you way beat on that, I have probably play 3-4000 fireworks games, old and new, and on the old, I couldnt do better than 230k, on the new, I am even worse. I do fine up until level 4 and then I tank. Colorblindness sets in and I cannot even SEE some of the fireworks behind the exploding ones. VMK, as usual, hates people with minor disabilities like colorblindness and dislexia

I've officially crossed this fun day off my calendar, not only is my computer too messed up to play, i enjoy ghosts a lot more.

I hope you were being facetious with that comment, because that's not really a fair thing to say being that a game doesn't all of a sudden make them hateful of people with certain disabilities.

I don't know if you want advice or not...but if you are getting 140 in the first round, you probably should do your very best to skip the "occasional awesome" in favor of only flawless, even if it means you have to miss a few. If I get every firework flawless in the first round (except the one that I skip to get a combo) I get 434 points. Depending on when I get the awesome, if I get one awesome in that whole mix I can go down as far as 328!! The math of the game makes in detrimental to get even one awesome, a few more awesomes and I'd be down below the cut-off line.

No, actually I am not, I have had conversations with staff about my dislexia via contact us way back when they put the "ban" on shortkeys and the basic gist of what they sent back was "so what" - fireworks is just another shining example of this. I would have to say I have to put in most codes at least 5 times befor ei get it right, and forget copying them down by hand. I use print screen or copy to record them. I never write them down correctly.

I have also sent messages to them concerning color marking the clothes. I truly cannot tell the difference between most colors of shirts/pants. Same thing "we wont be catering to a small portion of" blah blah blah. Yeah small portion, which comprised 1/3 of the male population of the planet.

Pirate, I do believe you have solved the mystery for me in that stage - I get 434 only occasionally, and I was told that there is one flawless you have to miss - but I guess I never paid much attention. Now to find that combo lol. Thanks for clearing this up for me. :goodvibes

Well being that I didn't see any responses that they actually sent you, I can't comment on what you say they said. Other people would like them to not ban short keys, but struggling with a mild case of it myself and having a brother and mother who struggle with a pretty difficult form of dyslexia, we've all had to learn that we can't use our struggles to get things they way we want them. Short keys may be easier in terms of typing something in, but it doesn't make it easier with learning how to actually work with the disability. Still I can see and understand the frustration, but I'm sure you understand that they have their reasons as well.

As far as color blindness is concerned, admittedly I don't struggle with that but I'm sure it is very frustrating for you. I did read up about it since you first responded just to see what you go through...but honestly I didn't see anything that said 1/3 of the male population struggle with it. That's one out of every three people....basically an epidemic. Everything that I've read shows less than 10%, and most are under 5% (all depending on the type of color blindness)...though still higher than the female population. So it's very much in the minority. I bring this up because VMK does have a valid point in talking about catering to such a small portion of the players. I'm not sure what you're wanting regarding color marking though....unless you want an all out no-color game, unfortunately the reality is that people who struggle with color blindness will come across difficulty in areas that involve certain or all colors. And trust me, I know what it's like to contact a company regarding something when I've been in that "small portion of people"...I recently contacted a company regarding their television adverstisements being somewhat flippant about a subject that is quite sore for people who struggle with a particular disease. I prefer not to get into specifics, but I just wanted to bring it up because while I don't struggle with color blindness, I do struggle with something else that is in the 10% and lower category so I know how it can feel to be the "odd one out" sometimes.

And I do know that VMK can be even more frustrating when trying to contact...like I said, I can't comment on what you say they said...but many of us know from past experience that VMK isn't always the most helpful. Frustrating? Most definitely. But does it make them hateful? I wouldn't say that. Hate is a pretty strong word. I would say that perhaps the game doesn't cater to them...but neither do a lot of things in this world. Doesn't make them hateful. I do hope you enjoy VMK in spite of your struggles, though!

YES! It explains it for me as well! I was wondering how the heck people were getting to 434...I've hit it only once or twice completely not knowing how on earth I did it. :lmao:

I usually don't pay games...my DH does for us..my game was Yeti... :rotfl: But I so agree with most here that fireworks is for the best of the best! So in trying to play fireworks on Fun Days... it is a joke! My DH just says forget I'm no trying fireworks any more! But I must admitt that in these Fun Days I have found tht I can play Ghost and actually get some credits!
So I like the Fun Days for Ghost! :goodvibes

Now if your listening VMK...I hope that you will consider doing Fun days for Pirates and JC for some of us who can't play Fireworks! That would be nice! ;)

I have learned to get around my dislexia pretty well. But I am really talking about a series of RANDOM digits - next to impossible for a dislexic, no matter how proficient in defeating the disorder, to copy by hand, and then RETYPE by hand.

As for color blindness, yes, it is only 10% of the population. If you consider that only 30% of the population is male and colorblindness only very rarely strikes females, my figure is exactly what you saw. 30% of the male population (including every male member of my family - every boy going back at least 2 generations, covering every cousin, nephew, uncle whatever that I know of, and my family is rather large) - and when I say color marking, I am talking about an article of clothing that just say "shirt" and there are 15 different colors, some of the differences are so subtle I take snaps of them and show them to others and have them tell me what color it is.

also, if you did research colorblindness, you will find that it does NOT mean I do not see colors. I most certainly do. BUT I cannot tell the difference between alot of different colors or shades of color. Dark green, dark blue, black, dark purple all look the same to me. Same goes for light orange, yellow... pink, light purple and tan - cyan light blue and light green.. silver and grey, and even white all look the same depending on the shading.... And also, epidemic? It isnt a disease, it isnt curable, you dont contract it from someone. I suggest a little more research may be nessecary on your part. It is a GENETIC DISORDER - it is passed down from your parents just like the color of your hair, or whether you will have big ears or a pointy nose. It is no more an epidemic than blondeness is an epidemic.

you know those tests they give you in school where you pick the number out of the circle with multicolor dots? I can get maybe 4 out of 10 - all I have asked VMK is to point out which color is which, not to strip all color from the world. (and yes, I do forgive you for making such an ignorant comment)

and as far as "catering to a small perecrnt" - 10% is a small percentage? How many people are in wheelchairs? So you are saying that it is ridiculous to put ramps in for those people?

and I used the word "hate" because of the WAY it was just blown off towards me and the lack of recognition and ignorance for the two handicaps. Dislexia, especially, gets ignored. My parents actually had to file a lawsuit against my high school because of their callousness towards my disability. (funny, in spite of all that, I had the 2nd highest SAT score in my school and would have taken Salutatorian if it wasnt for English class and my dislexia). Hate is always a product of ignorance and VMK, in regards to these two topics, has shown me NOTHING but ignorance and hatred.

Oh, and dislexia has, in alot of ways, given me a leg up on other - because of my struggles, I am now able to read jumbled up woirds, I can read upside down and backwards, I even can read words in a mirror as well. My brain now auto corrects and translates it. But that does not work with random bits of number and letter jumbles.

I have learned to get around my dislexia pretty well. But I am really talking about a series of RANDOM digits - next to impossible for a dislexic, no matter how proficient in defeating the disorder, to copy by hand, and then RETYPE by hand.
Yes, I understand that. I know it's frustrating, but that is the decision they made. I'm sure they didn't make their decision to spite people who struggle with dyslexia.

As for color blindness, yes, it is only 10% of the population. If you consider that only 30% of the population is male and colorblindness only very rarely strikes females, my figure is exactly what you saw.
Well, not really. You said 1/3 of the male population (or 33.3%). That would be 1 of of every 3 men. But in reality, it's 1 of of every 10 men at its height...and most types of color blindness are less than 5%, making it 1 out of every 20 men.
The stuff I looked at wasn't talking about 10% of both genders...it was talking about 10% and lower specifically for the male population.

and when I say color marking, I am talking about an article of clothing that just say "shirt" and there are 15 different colors, some of the differences are so subtle I take snaps of them and show them to others and have them tell me what color it is.
Yes, that I agree is frustrating and I do wish they would specify the color when you're buying them or whatever....and I can see the shade differences so I imagine it must be more frustrating for you.

also, if you did research colorblindness, you will find that it does NOT mean I do not see colors. I most certainly do. BUT I cannot tell the difference between alot of different colors or shades of color. Dark green, dark blue, black, dark purple all look the same to me. I didn't say you couldn't see color. :confused3

It is a GENETIC DISORDER - it is passed down from your parents just like the color of your hair, or whether you will have big ears or a pointy nose. I meant it in the sense that your numbers of how many people who had it were way higher than what it really is. Epidemic doesn't have to refer to disease alone...it also means that it is extremely prevalent and widespread...which it's not.

you know those tests they give you in school where you pick the number out of the circle with multicolor dots? I can get maybe 4 out of 10 - all I have asked VMK is to point out which color is which, not to strip all color from the world. (and yes, I do forgive you for making such an ignorant comment)
I don't personally view my comment to be ignorant, I made a comment based on the information you posted. I do realize what color blindness is. I made the comment in the sense that you did not originally specify what you wanted in your post regarding color marking...all I had to go by was that you were upset by the fact that VMK makes it difficult for people with color blindness first with fireworks and then with clothes...basically it seems like VMK's color choices don't make you happy, therefore unless they want to stick to only primary colors (which even those can be a struggle for some who are color blind), the only real solution would just be to do away with colors so that way it isn't an issue for anyone, no matter how "severe" or "mild" the color blindness may be.

and as far as "catering to a small perecrnt" - 10% is a small percentage? How many people are in wheelchairs? So you are saying that it is ridiculous to put ramps in for those people?
No I am not saying that, and I'd appreciate it if my words weren't twisted that way. I even used myself as an example. I suffer with a disease that is not curable. The disease I have hits about 10% of the female population (0% of the male population for anyone wondering...it's a female only disease). And while that number is high when all people are considered, I still do consider myself to be in the minority. That said, it's unfair to compare a person needing a wheelchair ramp to a color blind person playing VMK. VMK and wheelchair ramps don't even compare.

and I used the word "hate" because of the WAY it was just blown off towards me and the lack of recognition and ignorance for the two handicaps. Dislexia, especially, gets ignored. My parents actually had to file a lawsuit against my high school because of their callousness towards my disability. I still find it to be too strong a word to use. Ignorance and lack of recognition don't equal hatred. Hatred implies extreme hostility. Do they need education on the matter? Perhaps. But lack of education doesn't mean they hate you.
I commend you for trying to educate those who run VMK and perhaps in the future they will change things to help out. But I, personally, would be careful before accusing them of hatred, because I doubt that's what it actually is.

Anyway, I realize this conversation has gone way off topic...for my part I apologize. If you'd like to continue discussing, I'd be more than happy to via PM. :wizard:

You are right, we did go way off topic, but one last comment

"Hatred implies extreme hostility."
I dont think it needs to be extreme to be called hate. And the Heelchair reference applies since they both apply to a disability. When it comes to VMK, I have a disability which makes it nearly impossible to do certain things. Wouldnt you argue that having really small aisles in a store makes it impossible for the wheelchair bound to get around? It isnt the same, no, because people in wheelchairs have no problem gettng around VMK. We are talking about an online world... now if VMK made it so that you had to start hearing in order to play, then I would be at an even greater disadvantage, since, I am deaf as well.
