Hi, we stood at the WL during our 4th of July trip this year. We had dining reservations over at GF, so we ate dinner and then got a spot to view the fireworks from MK from the GF.....great we saw the fireworks and decided to ride the boat over to MK. While we waited for the boat on the GF dock after we saw the MK 4th of July fireworks we saw a pretty long presentation of fireworks coming from the WL. Should we have known this we would have ate dinner at Whispering Canyon and stood on the WL grounds, but there was never any mention of this. Now we plan on staying there again for this 4th of July, do they always have this special fireworks from the WL on the 4th of July :confused3 ?

Thanks a bunch for any information ;)

:rotfl2:

There are no fireworks at or from the WL - however, the WL is in the line of sight from the GF to EPCOT and ILLUMINATIONS at EPCOT is most likely what you saw.

I was at the WL this Fourth of July and there were no fireworks at the hotel. You could see some of Wishes from the windows in the Whispering Canyon Cafe but there were no fireworks at the actual hotel. I agree with the pp that you probably saw fireworks coming from Epcot or MGM.

well........I believe it was the 3rd of july and we went to see the pre-4th fireworks and left MK later that night. As we waited for our bus to arrive for pop, we noticed fireworks going off behind contemporary. It was a nice display too. We wondered what it was and figured that they probably do that for the higher paying people;) I may be wrong on the exact date but it happened during that 1st week we were @ wdw in july. I'm pretty sure where it was too. Walk out of mk to fron gate area looking across the lake hang a left to the buses and you have a great view of contemporary.....just beyond that.

The display you are referring to was for a private party that shelled out "Big Bucks" for that...your speculation that it was for "higher paying people" is partially correct....if you have the $$$, "The Rat" can pretty much provide you with anything (within reason) you want...

Sorry, I posted the wrong date, it WAS on JULY 3rd of 2007. NO it was not the Epcot or MGM fireworks :sad2: . It was about 20 minutes after MK fireworks and appeared to be coming from the WL direction while we were on the GF dock. I doubt it was someone who paid for that, it was a pretty long presentation :confused3 . Anyway, I guess we'll never know......I was just wondering if this was a annual event so that we could just stay on WL grounds during our stay there on July 3, 2008.

If you request (and get) rooms in the North wing of WL (woods view), particularly the 6th floor (even room #'s only 6604-6030), you will have a nice view of the MK fireworks from your private balcony ;) !

We had a standard that was room 5048 at WL and it was a perfect center view of the fireworks for Wishes and Christmas Wishes. We just sat on the bed and enjoyed since I wasn't feeling well and didn't want to go outside.

I don't know the geography to answer any specific direction questions, but are you aware that the 4th of July fireworks are actually on both July 3rd and July 4th and Wishes is cancelled for those nights? Last July 3rd, we had an ADR at Ohana and then went down to the beach to watch the fireworks form there. I did not want to be in the parks on July 4th and this was perfect.

Doubt all you want :dance3: - once again, it was a private party and, yes, it was paid for by those who gave the party. Do not plan your trip or where you stay based on someone throwing a party one year - they may not do it the following year.

The fireworks on the fourth are shown over Seven Seas Lagoon as well as over the MK. It's an extra long show and can be seen both inside and outside the park. In fact, we have been to WDW so many times over the fourth we usually watch the display from outside the park since it is jam packed inside. Perhaps you saw the display outside the park? They also show the same display on the 3rd.
