I've seen reviews that the California Grill is an excellent dinner choice - but what about watching Wishes from there?

Anyone have any reviews, advice, etc. Should we plan dinner around the fireworks - or do dinner and then watch Wishes inside MK?

TIA

If you are only going to see wishes once and you are going to have paid admission to be in MK - I would view wishes from MK over CA Grill. That said the view from CA grill is pretty good, and I would view it from there if you want to see wishes and not pay to be in the park. Another good place to see wishes from the resorts is Ohanas.

Last year, my DH and I had 7:20 pm reservations and Wishes was at 8:00 pm. We weren't seated right away, and we did not get a MK window view. Once we were seated, we order champagne (it was our anniversary) and walked out to the observation deck. It was a great view. From our table, we could see part of Illuminations at 9:00 pm. It was great evening!

We prefer to view Wishes from the MK. When viewing the fireworks from the CG, you can see that they are coming from different sides of the castle.

I would not substitute viewing Wishes from CG for viewing in MK. Our last vacation we saw Wishes early on in our vacation in MK and then our last night had dinner at CG and watched from the observation deck. It was neat to see it from a different perspective and we enjoyed it, but it certainly does not have the same impact that it has inside MK.

If you're going to be there long enough, why not do it twice? One night while you're in the MK view Wishes, then on another night, watch it from CG...some nights (esp. in the summer), they'll do Wishes twice, so maybe you can view it twice from both spots. If Wishes is at 10 PM, then I'd suggest getting reservations for around 8:30 or so, so you're ending your meal. :)

I agree that if you're only going to see Wishes once you need to experience them in the park. :cloud9: However, if you want a different experience, the view from the deck of CG is great-however, you (or at least I) don't feel the emotional impact seeing them from the distance. We've also watched them from Poly Beach and from TTC boat dock. Both good view, but still not as much the impact.

Regarding CG-we ate there last Sept., we had a window seat, but we still went on the deck to watch Wishes-one word-CONDENSATION! :sad2: The windows were completey covered in it! It hadn't rained for several hours but the windows were completely obscured. Everything looked a little blurry. That being said, we are going back this Sept. and hopefully the windows will be clear.

Have a great time.

Some seats at CG have a great view, some have only a limited view, and a few have no view at all.
