I'll be arriving Sunday, Jan. 24 in the late afternoon, so I won't be going to DLR. However, that night will be the only time during my stay there will be fireworks. Where's the best place to watch outside of the park proper? Thanks.
I have heard the Esplanade between the parks is not a terrible place to watch the fireworks. I've even heard that SOMETIMES they pipe the music in there--I would think that would be more likely to happen if the crowds are very big (as an incentive to keep people from trying to flood the park). However, that probably isn't too likely on a Sunday night in January.
I'm sure there are better places to view them from in and around DCA. So I'm posting in the hopes that someone will step forward to correct me and give you all better advice.
We watched the fireworks from our DTD view room when we were there in August. You can not see the projections, but the fireworks were great along with the music.
Not many great places right near the hotel to see the fireworks, except the balconies of many of the downtown disney view rooms.
Down at street level in front of the hotel, you're blocked by the buildings of downtown disney. If you head over west, toward the disneyland hotel, there is a bit of a clearing near the house of blues that might be a good place to watch. I don't know if it's blocked by trees. There also may be a bit of a clearing if you go a little further west, on the other side of the monorail station, behind the rain forest cafe. But again, I don't know what might be blocking there.
I would think the best place to go from street level would be the plaza between the parks, as a prior poster mentioned. It's essentially a straight line with the castle.
